DCC Ring Games

Greg Sullivan and the Diamond folks are really trying to put pool and gambling where they belong, in the national spotlight. VIP’s will be in attendance during the two ring games, on Jan. 14th and 15th. If they like what they see, well, the doors will be open, financially and for television.
Players who are in the 10 Ball ring game will have their entry fees paid in all three divisions and their rooms taken care of. By my reckoning this is at least $1,100. Gentlemen who win the All-around have their rooms and entry fees paid for life. Many other amenities have been extended to people from every bastion of billiarddom. In my opinion they have the best tournament in the world.
I am again honored to do the ring games, but I am dismayed at the lethargic response from top players and backers/sponsors. I only have one deposit for the 10 Ball and past ring game winners haven’t even secured their spot. It wouldn’t bother me at all to have a great ring 10 Ball game with one level lower player. But, I’m telling you top players and your contingents, this is a marvelous opportunity for you to make money and star in front of influential people. However, the way I do things, it’s first come, first serve. Any pro can play. All I require is that he or she have enough ability to please a paying audience.
The Bank Pool ring game is just about full and I have surprises with that line-up, which I think folks will enjoy.
Please, anybody who wants to be involved with these terrific ring games, as player or sponsor, contact me and Merry Christmas to one and all.

Sounds Like Your Doing Another Great Job, Grady!

I am really looking forward to this DCC. I've never been before but have heard it is as close to the Johnston City tourneys that can be. That’s where you & I first met. We also played a little one-pocket in Denver once and I was involved when you used to come to town (St. Louis) to play Gordon Guy (Gracie), years ago. I got to see you play & whip a young gunslinger in some 9 ball at The Break in Cahokia a while back. It was one of the inspirations that has gotten me back to playing.
We have to remember that getting old isn't so bad, when you consider the alternative.
From what I see & hear, your one of the best ambassadors this game so desperately needs. I can only imagine the commitment and fortitude it is taking to organize any event that involves players. I'll bet you feel sometimes like that commercial where the guy is trying to herd a bunch of wild cats over the countryside.
Hang in there because your dedication to the game you love isn't going un-noticed by the masses.
Looking forward to re-acquainting myself to you at the DCC.

Grady, this sounds great! Thanks for all that you are doing, I hope the players step up soon. They will probably wait till the last minute as most pool players do.

I didnt think I was going to be able to go, but if the ring games are on the 14th and 15th I may have to make a trip just to watch them.

I hope the ring games attract the players that can show the public what pool is about and I thank Grady for all he puts into the game. Nobody loves the game more and I think that Grady will go down as one who has had a great beneficial effect on a great many players and the game in general. He's a national pool treasure....and that's the truth.
