DCC Schedule

I am trying to start planning my first trip to the DCC. I need to know what the schedule is, so I can figure out which days to take off of work. When will the DCC website be updated, or does it still get updated?

I also noticed in another thread that we should make our reservations now. Is it that hard to find a room? Do I need to get my room this early, or is that just if I want to stay at the host hotel?

Thanks for any input. I look forward to playing in my first big tourney.

The website is off a year, but it does have this years dates listed at the bottom of the page. Its Jan 5th-13th. If you want to stay at the host hotel.... would be best to call as soon as you can, its filling up quickly.

Do they break down the week into events? I don't think I can take the full week off. I want to play in certain events and not others. I haven't even been down to see this tournament, and I am trying to figure all of this out pretty fast, so I don't miss out.
 
Friendly advice

The website has been HORRIBLE for providing accurate updated information. Double check everything before you act. Evidently there is something up with never updating it. They still have some info missing from the 2005 DCC!

What events are you wanting to play in? Banks is 1st, 1pocket is 2nd and 9 ball is last. I believe the 14.1 started a few days into the DCC.

Tell me exactly what you're wanting to play in and I'll see what I can do to get the breakdown on the events for you.

I do believe rooms away from the DCC are easy enough to get but I don't recommend doing so if you're going to be playing in the event. There is no tournament chart. They draw after each round and it's single elimination with a one time buy back in each division.

Due to the format, your next match time or opponent cannot be predicted until the draw. The hours are pretty crazy and it's a fairly brutal schedule but people love it. I strongly suggest you stay on the premises if you're playing. ;)
 
Thanks Timberly, I was looking at the breakdown of the schedule for last year and if it follows suit, it looks like I will only be able to do the 9 ball. I can't use a full week of vac. that early in the year. It will be bad enough using 3 days for the nine ball. I guess if I don't do very well, I can come back to work on Thurs. or Fri. I am only a few hours away.

If you can find out, when is the 9-ball tourney? If I am right it will be from Wed.-Sat. Thanks for the help.

I'll see what I can find out for you. You definitely want to reserve your room yesterday if you're going to the 9 ball event. That has the most players of any of the events. Reserve it now for Wed thru Sun.... you can always change the dates later.
 
I showed up on Friday about noon of the last weekend. I went straight to the counter and asked if they had any rooms available and they did. I'm not recommending that you do that. I was prepared to stay elsewhere. I just got lucky I guess.
 
i did the same thing tuesday trough thursday, went straight to the counter, had no problem getting a room. but i am going to call ahead this year.
 
I just called and made my reservations for the 10th - 13. Hopefully I will be able to stay all 3 nights. Just going to depend on how the balls roll.

When will registration open for the tournaments?

I tried sending a msg in hopes that I wouldn't have to bother the busy folks with a phone call but the person I sent the msg to isn't on here very often. I'll start trying some phone numbers tomorrow during business hours. ;)
 
I paid $72 for a room with 2 queen beds, at the host hotel. That is the rate from the 10th to the 13th.
 
Not a problem. I am just hoping that I am confident enough in my game to take advantage of the room. I haven't played a lot lately, but I usually find my game pretty quick. I can't really start practicing until the kids go back to school. I am a second shift worker so I don't get to see them much, and when they are out of school they get to wait up for me. Here in about a month I will start hitting the hall after work a few nights a week. That will give me about 4 months to gear up. I will probably play either way, I just don't want to look like someone who just picked up a stick. After all I have been messing around with the game for almost 30 years. I was about 5 or 6 when I picked up a cue for the first time.

Sorry for the ramble, just excited about the first trip to DCC.
 
Oh, me too!! They dedicated a whole forum to the DCC for ramblers like us! :D ;)
I talked to hubby last night and it looks like we are definitely going!! Our buddy is going for the whole week and he's friends with Shannon Daulton--I forgot to ask if Shannon was going to be there but he almost always is. We would at least like to stay a night the first weekend and both nights the second.

Hubby wants to get a new cue too. I told him I'd like to get a Lucasi for myself but I don't want to spend that much money until I get good again. I'm really out of practice. Luckily we have a table at home.

Can't wait!!

I will be arriving on Tuesday the 9th and stay until the 13th. What will I be able to play with this schedule? What will I be missing?
