When before the Judge my explanation of the circumstances got, Guilty, one dollar next. So he followed the Letter but also recognized The Spirit.
I personally developed the habit of calling everything as a comic self state mint just barely audible. To cover the Nits. I encountered one that claimed uncalled 8 ball. When rounding the table after survey I tapped the corner and said, "right here". I guess to satisfy him I would have called the pocket sweetheart before the shot rather than after. . His plea to the tournament director was diss missed.

Laz was right both in letter and spirit. The adjacent rail to the intended pocket does not constitute a kick.

I haven't found the language in WPA but it's in CSI (BCA league). This shot has never been considered worthwhile of a verbal call.

I have had players tell me that I don't have to call the obvious. I just explain that I am not calling it for them. Just trying to convince myself

I don’t think the WPA rules contain anything on this, because unlike CSI the don’t have a iron clad “you *must* call every bank, kick or combo, no matter how obvious” rule. The WPA rules are all about whether the shot is obvious and includes “should” re banks and combos.

Yes. I meant to say, I haven't found the verbiage specific to adjacent rails in the WPA rules. However, I would not be surprised if the WPA also ruled this way. Their rules aren't exactly wordy.

I don’t think you will find it in the WPA rules, because they don’t need it. I searched “kick” in both the WPA rules and regulations and no hits. I believe they don’t need to define kick (for the reason I propose above).

I refuse to call obvious shots. I want people to let me know that they don't trust me, because that tells me they can't be trusted. They're usually projecting.
I think a lot of the players in my area that call everything do so from playing "city leagues" with the old no safes, kitchen on a scratch, "gentleman's hit" style rules.
Which far from the implication, encourages skullduggery and argument way more than WPA/BCA style rules.
I never assume my opponent is dishonest from the start, and expect the same in return.

They set the rules and they played by the rules. They weren't playing for fun, nor a ten-dollar set so Jeff had every right to make that call. This game had nothing to do with CSI or WNT Rules, this is a Action match and the players set the rules.

And remember the spot that Laz was getting, the game was fair and if one incident is all everybody talks about their missing the best part of the Action.

Commentators weren't physically there. I don't even know if the Ryda's Action Spot account mentioned it in the chat at any time during the sets.

In defence of the commentators, not only were they not there physically (remote commentary), they were pulled in at the last minute so they didn’t know anything more than the people watching.
