Ever watch the show "Deal or No Deal"? What KT may be doing here is testing the players and messing with their minds. Once something is offered to you and taken away you wish you had the original offer back. Kt is offering 1/3 but in three payments. What that does is create an offer but sort of take it away at the same time. The player after considering having to deal with trying to get paid the three payments, all of a sudden sees a 1/3 in a lump sum payment as a pretty good deal and may take the 1/3 with less hesitation.
The players will feel like they won in the negations, "They showed him, he had to pay them the 1/3 in a lump sum, they weren't going to go for no three payments". Actually they were manipulated into doing what KT wanted them to do all along. It's all a game. The offer may creep up a little but in the end there will be a point the players will take the deal.
