Dealing with loss

How do you think most people would handle going to the U.S. Open and losing 11-0 ?

Would this kill your will? Stunt your your game due to the mental part?

Honestly, it depends how you lose I would think. Sure no one likes to lose, but when they had no say in the matter, can you really blame yourself? Now if they made a lot of mistakes... perhaps then the player could take it hard... it's all relative really.

Stuff like that happens, even to pros. If it makes you do anything other than try harder, maybe you aren't cut out for high level pool.

I agree how you lose would carry a lot of weight. My game can't handle level pool Not sure if my brain could either lol

I don't think it would kill your will, maybe give you reason to work harder even. Also, there are a lot of variables... what caliber player you are, the way you lost, who you played, the list could go on. I think it would be more damaging to the very elite. I can't even think of an example of that happening though.

What about that 9-ball match where Efren Reyes went against Mika Immonen and destroyed him... that's one >_>

Thanks for the example. Now my point would be if your top shelf and you get destroyed i think it would be VERY disappointing to say it mildly. But if your good enough to play in the open but a 1000-1 shot of winning, I don't think it would be as tough but maybe give you motivation.

At least thats how I see it, could be wrong as I'm nowhere near that level of player.

Pool losses

I use to worry about losses until I talked to Leil Gay one day.He told
me,even if somebody beats me today, when I got some money they
have to do it again,and again,and again,until I beat their ass.

If it were me and my first time there and I played badly and lost 11-0 I doubt I would ever play at the open again. But that also has to do with the financial difficulty of making it there.

That would suck majorly Mika is defiantly in the elite group

I was there. Mika was crushed alright, looked like he might quit the game at that moment. Corey told him something to the effect that it "just happened" and that he {Mika} was still a great player.
As evidenced by Mika's performance since, Corey was right!
