....... I've been remiss in thanking you for the great evening with you two. For those who don't know what I'm talking about ~ "Here's the rest of the story".
I qualified for the singles in APA 9 Ball. I wasn't even a 9 ball player but I am now. Anyway, during the first week of March I put this question on this forum - Anybody going to the Pocono's for the 9 Ball Tournament?
I received a PM from Charlie or Gracie not sure which but he told me he had a GC sitting in his pool room but not using it much. I PM back and he gave me his ph. #. Surprise surprise I called him and we spoke maybe a couple of minutes and I agreed to go to his house while I was in the Pocono's. Keep in mind that Charlie nor Gracie had NEVER spoken to me let alone met me, nor I them.
I drive from Florida to the Pocono's in Pa. When I get there I get a room and give Charlie a call. Gracie answer's and she tells me he is at the dentist and they have a gated community and I'll have to wait till he gets back. OK so I wait near the entrance of their community. I understand Gracie's apprehension to let me in b/c she has never met me. I call later and Charlie is now home and he's coming to let me through the gate. I'm thinking great this is going to be good. Play pool for hours with another pool junkie. Yippee what could be better?
So we get to the house and I meet Charlie's lovely wife Gracie and her Mother who live with them. I'm sorta getting a little uneasy b/c I fell like I'm intruding. You know how that feels when someone invites you to do something buy maybe they have a little uneasiness due to not knowing me.
Anyway we get to playing pool and talking, we're having a good time and Charlie mentions food, dinner. Great, I'm hungry. Charlie's orders in pizza and I offer to pay. He won't accept a dime. He treated me like I was an old friend. This is going pretty good here. Anyway the pizza comes and we eat and chit chat a little with him and Gracie.
Back down to the pool room. Great room too. The game before dinner I won 7 to 2, 9 Ball and racing to 7. After dinner we go back to the pool room and Charlie, being the perfect host brings out a bottle of sippin' whiskey. Mmmmmmm, things are getting good. The second race to 7 goes to Charlie 7 to 5. In the mean time we're having a few and talking and I ask him if Gracie would like to have a drink with us. He calls Gracie to the pool room but Gracie doesn't drink. Oh my, what can we do? So as many people do like myself we have found other things to relax us and Gracie is into relaxing. After all she has her Mother to take care of along with the house and of course Charlie.
Now Charlie, Gracie, and I are tuned up and we go into the third match. It's nip and tuck through the whole match. Charlie wants to win and so do I. Now I'm thinking why did this guy invite me. We all joked about the invite and the acceptance by me. We're feelin' pretty good now and I start to thinking I hope everything is OK b/c the thought goes through my mind that MAYBE he's going to kill me. What???? Yep. Here's the scene, it's dark and late, Charlie is enjoying his drink. I'm enjoy a couple and a relaxant, Gracie is relaxin. Crazy things start to come to mind, you know like Friday the 13th and such. YIKES!!
I'm feelin relaxed,good and maybe not thinking straight in the first place. I'm in the mountains of Pa. and really not quite sure just exactly where I am in case something does go wrong. Ok this feeling leaves and we're both on the hill. We play like there was a million on the match. It's right down to the easy eight and the 9 is sitting inches from the bottom pocket. I muffed the 8 and Charlie runs out.
I leave around midnight or so I'm not sure. But what I am sure of that Charlie and Gracie are easy to be with and I enjoyed my few hour stay with them both. Even though I thought they would kill me.:grin: Just joking Charlie.
In closing I want to thank both Charlie and Gracie for their lovely hospitality and inviting into their home.
