Okay, this might mean I'm a lame example of a pool player but I am hooked on PoolStars and can't wait to watch the deathmatch.

In my opinion, they have done a great job with the software. It's a fun way to get a pool fix when you can't get out and play the real thing (or, as in my case, your basement is just too cold in the winter). You can almost always find someone to challenge for play or real money and there are tournaments and sit-n-gos. Overall the people are pretty friendly.

If you plan on trying it, be forewarned - the pockets are very tight, jumping is way too easy once you see how it's done, and there are some serious problems with sidespin (draw and follow work well, though).
 
Can anyone tell me if this game will benefit my "real" pool game? In theory the game should help me understand the physics a little better (assuming they are close to the real thing).

I'll just stick to the real game of pool.

Question : Would AZ promote this video game if poolstars.com was NOT an advertiser ?

It depends what level player you are now. If you are still learning angles and position, I think there are some subtle differences in the online version that could mess you up.

I do think that it is kind of a blessing that sidespin is so hard to use on poolstars (the deflection just isn't right, and the spin doesn't always do what it should) because it shows you that it's possible to get by without it more than you might normally think.

Another thing it helps me with is the mental game. I find myself getting very nervous in online tournament matches which I seldom do in real tournaments anymore. I think that's what I like about it. You really do have to concentrate or the balls just aren't going to go in.
 
I just signed up for this poolstars thing... I tried to play a game and the balls werent showing, I could see the shadows of the balls but could see the balls???
