Decent Shoulder Strap System for Cases

I have always used the Instroke cases or similar. I've had a couple of different sizes, but I settled on 3x5. The problem I have is the dinky little shoulder strap that doesn't lengthen enough to fit comfortably over my shoulders. It isn't like I'm a big guy or anything, and still I have to let the shoulder strap all the way out just to be half-as* comfortable. Also, why isn't there a back-pack style setup so that the load is carried evenly? Has anyone come up with a better (homemade or aftermarket) idea for their cases?

"back-pack style setup'

Both Talisman Pool Cue Cases & Jim Murnak Pool Cue Cases offer Back Pack Straps....;)

Maybe you should get a New Case.....

Why would you ask the forum this and not Instroke ???????? Instroke is one of the best cases made...it sounds that you have a legitimate concern/suggestion.......e-mail Instroke and advise/suggest your great idea to them.......i am sure a great company like Instroke will listen to you...............also you might try a slip on pad with velcro made for seat belts to provide a cushion...............just remember whatever it is in life just because a company makes it doesn't mean it is perfect....i believe anyone should contact a company to make their product better......good luck to you

I tried the shoulder strap once, but it bit into it so much that I couldn't shoot well later on...that was the last time I used it...now I just use the handle

I have had a Talisman case for 2 years now and I love the back pack straps. It is hands down, the most comfortable case I have ever owned. Plus the outside pockets seem to be some of the biggest I've seen. Call GoBilliards.com and ask for Tom.

Cases

Although many cases are raved about as being so good, fact is,
they all have something about them that is unsatisfactory or is
an irritation or inconvenience. Shoulder straps and handles
should not be one of them. Providing shoulder straps for
larger than 2 x 4 cases that aren't wide enough, long enough,
or padded well is like producing a Lexus with just a AM radio.
Some case makers never do realize that 1 or 2 things about
their cases could be holding their sales way down when they
could make the design changes needed for their customers
without that much cost or trouble. Why should a customer
have to get a sore shoulder from carrying a case, or not be
able to get a cue holder into the big pocket. Case makers
need to stay abreast of what their customers need and want
just as much as cuemakers do.

I have a little aversion to leather cases that are very 'stiff' to
where you have to bend the leather when getting into the
pockets. That is just something I do not care for.

I've had a couple of well known brand cases that each had things
I wasn't satisfied with, and now have 2 much less known brands
and much more inexpensive cases that I am more satisfied with.
Yes, I may have to replace them sooner, but I don't mind, because
I consider the convenience of a case as being almost as important
as the quality of it.

I love my Talisman case and the backpack handles are very comfortable for long periods. I would order it off the website, as there are some good deals there. www.talismanbilliards.com

Here's a picture of the back of mine. Mine was a custom case made to accommodate an extra-long shaft.

You don't look too tall Linda, doesn't the bottom of the case
when in backpack mode hit you in the butt or the back of your
thighs when walking?

That would be awesome, but I'd really like to stay with a 3x5 case. It seems they make 2x4 only.:(

Suggest you e-mail Talisman; I'm pretty sure they've just started marketing 3X5s. The web site you've consulted may not have been updated to indicate this.--AS

Yes, their website doesn't show the new 3x5 cases. They look just like the other ones. If you call Tom at GoBilliards.com, I'm sure he can get you one. GoBilliards.com is the US distributor for Talisman Cases.

SNAPSHOT9, the leather is softer than some of the other brands. It is funny that you mentioned the leather being so hard, because that is why I switched to the Talisman. I unbuckled the pockets and within minutes was able to flex them around and now they are, what I think is the perfect stiffness. I can bend it completely over itself when needed, and yet it still feels like it is strong and protective.

I personally love the suitcase style cases. The only problem I've ever had with the suitcase, flip-up style cases is that they never have enough space for accessories. It is either not wide enough or they make it too short. Oh, well, maybe we should write to Talisman and see if they could design a suitcase style one that fits our needs like they did with the other ones they have now. LOL, Maybe I'll start a thread? :)

I think one of the case manufacturers has a two-strap backpack system. I'd like to see it as an option on all cases.

Because the Whitten shoulder strap is on the back of the case as opposed to the side, it lays on your back which some people find to be more comfortable.

I have a 2 x 4 Whitten 42F with the Shoulder Strap & Pad. never carried it for more than a 30 Minutes, but the Shoulder Pad is VERY COMFORTABLE. ;)

Talisman does make the 3x5 now!

I talked to the US distributor of the Talisman products. Talisman Tips and Casses for sale on eBay by sticman99 are the real thing. These are coming directly from the same guy who is the US Distributor for Talisman Billiards. If you don't want the towel or whatever, just call him and he will work out a deal with you. BTW, you can call him direct and not order off of eBay, it is a lot less hassle.

Here is his number: 1-877-882-2295 ask for Tom.

Tell him you saw this on AZBilliards. Maybe we can get him to start advertising here.

Oh and their cases do come in 3x5 sizes also. Same guy - same number.

Yes you can order this stuff from the talismanbilliards.com site, but why not get what you want by direct phone conversation. I find it much easier to just call the guy who is going to mail them to you anyway.

I have carried my case for fairly long treks before and always found their back pack straps and they way it sits on your back to be quite comfortable.

Yes, I am short and yes it is long, and yes it hits me in the legs. BUT... (no pun intended)...my husband is usually my caddy, I usually just sling it over my arm for short jaunts, and I really don't care if I am hitting anything when I take those 5 mile treks around the Riviera come BCA time! lol

Now I wish I did not have the extra-long shafts (had one shortened) and I really wish I could get the 3x5 as I cannot bring my break cue because I need my Stretch system more. Also, Tony did so much work embossing my case and it is still in such beautiful shape I can't justify a new one yet. <Sigh>

Got pictures of it?

See post 9. I meant about embossing my name on the back. Here's one of the front.

Thanks for posting both Front & Back as I thought you were talking extensive tooling that sounded out of the norm for Tony.
