im going to make this short as possible
1.) predator reduces deflection with lower end mass. How heavy are the usual materials used for ferrules compared to eachother.(ivory, etc....). im not sure what all you guys are using. and also is the ferrule material heavier than the shaft wood.
2.) if lower end mass reduces deflection and the shaft wood is lighter than the ferrule material wouldnt a shaft with a smaller ferrule, like what predator has on their 314-2 and z2 shafts. (The ferrules are shorter in the 2nd generation for those that do not know) reduce lower end mass by not having as much heavy ferrule material at the end. Hence Ob1 and Ob2 shafts. if this is true why are cuemakers not making shorter ferrules.
3.) i am not familiar with the hardness of ivory i know it makes a great joint and im not to keen on ivory ferrules, that why im a predator guy. would a short ivory ferrule hold up or does the length give it more durability. this question also answers my ivory joint question also. Is bigger stronger?
