Deflection useful?

Was watching a Thorsten Hohmann match. For potting a masse shot, he grabbed another cue. Afterwards, he went back to his playing cue. The commentator mentioned that Thorsten likely used a high-squirt cue for the masse, then changed back to his LD shaft cue.
In my experience, masse and jump shots are much easier to execute with cues that have a higher end mass (near the tip), which is exactly what "LD" cues don't have. With a regular cue off the wall, I can easily jump a full ball or masse a ball 180 degrees, but there's no chance of either of those things happening with my playing cue with an LD shaft.

My low squirt shaft jumps like a white guy, so I agree with that. Haven't tested it for extreme masse, but it works fine for the moderate-masse shots common in pool games.

But I think that's useful end mass, not useful CB deflection.

Absolutely. I was responding only to the recent question tacked onto this resurrected thread, not the original topic. Technically speaking, low-squirt shafts exhibit more useful (tip) deflection than a regular shaft. Thank marketing for that.
