I purchase a laminated break shaft, from J Petree's, of Oklahoma Billiards, a couple of years ago. Right away, after I received it , I notice a noise that sounded to be cracked.
I contacted Petree in reference to this and he convinced me that is was excess epoxy glue up behind the brass insert.
I let it go and didn't pay much attention , until about a month ago, when I started hearing this noise again. I contacted J Petree, but his reply was kind smart alec. He emailed me and said well, what do you want me to do with it. When I replied back that I thought he should stand behind it and either fix it or repair it.
Was I wrong to assume that J Petree, of Oklahoma Billiards, would stand behind it , or should he have offered to have me send it to him and let him take a look at it.
No he did neither.
He went off and accused me of treating him like he was some a 19 year old punk.
Then he pretty much told me I should beg him to look at it for me , as if he was some Cuemaker God.
I took this shaft to a local maker here in Cincinnati. He couldn't find anything wrong with it and suggested that maybe it wasn't tightened all the way up.
A couple of days ago the girlfriend installed the break shaft for me and felt the crack, that I myself and the local cuemaker had missed.
This shaft has a crack between the laminations that is near the joint end and appears to be traveling towards the tip end. I beleive we didn't find it, because we were looking more towards the ferrule.
In the beginning , when I first made the purchase, J petree told me , on the phone, that if i determined that the noise was something broken in this shaft, that he would replace it.
I've emailed J Petre several times and he's ignored all of them. I've even gone as far as to include my phone number. but still to no avail.
Isn't this a defect in workmanship that any of you cuemakers would stand behind. It's obvious this crack didn't come from abuse.
It's a break shaft!
Leaving this thread is my last option in dealing with J Petree, since he chooses to ignore me contatcing him.
I guess this should be a warning to others that have problems.
This is how J Petree , of Oklahoma Billiards, will treat you.
