Delrin Ferrules

I recently bought a Runde shaft 2nd hand and it had a delrin ferrule and some kind of layered tip on it; I didn't like the tip so I installed a sniper on it. Now I can't get the sniper to stay glued to the ferrule no matter how hard I try; the area where the tip and the top of the tenon touch is adhering fine, but the tip won't stick to the ferrule at all. I'm using Devcon 2-ton epoxy. Any ideas on what to try to glue this tip? I'm guessing there is something out there that will work as the ferrule is glued to the tenon pretty well and the previous tip was glued on fine.

I know delrin isn't a preferred ferrule material; would I just be better off getting a new ferrule?

Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Oops, just read the thread about the stuff that Atlas sells to bond to delrin; I missed it earlier. Okay, so now I guess the question is, should I change the ferrule or just order the glue from Atlas and try that out?

Is there a minimum order with Atlas? If there is, and you do not have other things to purchase, that might not be your best choice. I think most of the cuemakers here would advise you to have the ferrule changed.

The ferrule is most likely threaded and glued to the tenon using epoxy, which is why it seemingly is holding fine.

delrin doesn't hold.

but i MUST ask,,,,why do you want a delrin ferrule?!! it totally lacks any kind of responsive hit. that's why no one uses it for ferrule or joint material. delrin's only good quality is its resiliance, which is why it's used at the butt where there's plenty of bumping and marring.

and yes, you would do better to get another ferrule. the delrin will eventually unglue and come off.

read a thread on another forum where a pool room owner was using delrin ferrules on his house cues and using contact cement for the tips. by his account he was having great success with this combination at the 6 week point.

I say take the Delrin off.
Why in the world would anyone use Delrin for ferrules?
Great for buttcap and collets in the lathe.
Ferrule and collar? No.

Hey I like delrin ferrules. But I also like rubber shoes and baggy pants.

Dont all those Kmart cues from China come with delrin ferrules and screw on tips?

I don't mind Delrin for buttcaps, but I have to say, the thought of a ferrule made from the stuff makes my skin crawl.... I agree that you should change it for a different material.

No, those ferrules are a M/P type plastic. About the same as older Meuccis.
