In alphabetical order:

1. The Mirage: it's a sports bar with great specials on drinks. It's more of a sports bar than a hard core pool hall but it has lots of coin operated tables and seven 9-footers. The help is really nice, there.

2. Sport Bowl: an old, established bowling alley on Broadway offering twelve 9-footers. It's a neighborhood hangout with well maintained bowling alleys and a really friendly staff and clientele. That's where I hang. There, you'll encounter the occasional great pool player as well.

3. Table Steaks: I've only heard that it's where one goes for the money. Great prices for table time and people are just fine.

I'm certain that there's other good places around town but these three venues are my favorites. Elsewhere there's too much attitude on the part of players, employees or the owner.

i was wondering if you ever hang out at paradise billiards? i am looking
for an old friend and thought maybe you would know him.

i enjoy Shakespeares, Paradise and Table Steaks myself.....haven't been going to Paradise long enough to know many of the folks, but who are you looking for?

Nothing to do w/ the pool, but if ya go to the Sport Bowl, nearby restaurant choices that should be checked out are Gennaros and Twin Dragon. TD was open the last time I was in town. I think genarros too, but I'm not completely sure. Both are north of sport bowl on broadway. If you've already been to them, sorry. If not, give 'em a try.

Is Colfax Billiards still around?

We posted some about that room about a week ago in an unrelated thread about Mike Sigel. Anyway, the short story is the owner lost the lease and moved the equipment to Tennyson Street. So you now had a room called Colfax Billiards on Tennyson. I think it is still there in one form or another but I have not been there in a while. A new room called the Billiard Institute moved in. They knocked a wall out and took over the bar next door to the former Colfax Billiards. The owner of Colfax Billiards subsequently opened Table Steaks just down the road from the old Colfax billiards - new Billiard Institute. The Denver guys posted that the Billiard Institute was closed. The move of Colfax Billiards out of their old location was in the late '80's sometime.

Louis Boone

You Denver area guys. I am looking for an old friend from Memphis that moved to Denver some years back named Louis Boone and would appreciate some help. Boone is a black guy in his 60s now and use to have the heart of a lion. If any of you guys know where he is hanging out please PM me. Thanks guys,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,$Bill

i am looking for a guy named marvin jones. we used to hang out about 10 or 12 years
ago when i was stationed in denver. i saw his name in the tournment results for
paradise, but have been unable to locate him.

"Best" room to play is Brooklyn bilkliards. Just reopened by old owner of Billiard Institute. Originally opened by Tom McChesney (tex xpress) to be the "premier" tournament room.

Table Steaks is great 24 hour room for action.
