DERBY CITY CLASSIC DRESS CODE

I intentionally asked the cashier in the coffee shop one morning what it was like having the place full of pool players. She laughed and said, “Oh, it’s all right, but it is like somebody sprayed the whole place with a can of testosterone.”
Dude, I went down one year just for a few hours and the (now) ex wife tagged along. We were walking around checking out cues and stuff while Joe B. did some tip work for me and I asked her what she thought of the whole thing and she said, "I can smell the testosterone in this place." I swear on my life that's the truth. 😂

I loved the interactions with people I'd never met. But we were all there for the same reason. Except one year... Somehow a Christian group with a boatload of kids got booked at the same time as The Derby. It was beyond surreal to see all these sheltered Christian kids walking around with some of the most stone cold gamblers, drunks, and chemical enthusiasts on the planet. Thankfully, I didn't hear of any issues that came of it. It was just funny in way I lack the creative writing skills to fully explain.

Well the truth be known Corporate America don’t support anything or sponsor anything unless their is a return on the investment of Advertising or PR Dollar spent.

These corporations employ people to look at little things like if they say spend 2.5 million bucks on say a Super Bowl Commercial, what is the audience viewing the commercial, what is the average income of the people watching the event.

Corporate America like Car Companies, Watch companies, Investment Firms, Banks, etc., spend big buck annually sponsoring, buying ads, and last supporting Professional Golf.

Why because the AVERAGE Golf Fan, or Recreation Player has a HIGH CREDIT SCORE, that say they have extra income to purchase product or service, the sponsor have to offer via advertising.

Wonder how many Pool Player, and Spectator who are at this year DCC, have a CREDIT SCORE over 840?” Will to bet only a handful at best.

Ask the same question about the Players & Spectators at the PGA Master Golf Tournament in Georgia, the number of people with the 840 CREDIT SCORE is very very very large.

Maybe that is why the PGA is offering it Pro Player Big Purses any weekend on the PGA Tournament.

Dear Jimmy-Betmore,

I got curious whether one can smell testosterone, so I looked it up on Google and AI. Basically you can’t smell testosterone, BUT testosterone heightens the effect of related hormones, such as androstenone, which DO have an odor, and AI specifically mentions that many women find this odor attractive. So what my cashier and your ex-wife meant to say was, “Smells like androstenone in here.”

Dear Cocobolo Cowboy,

Some years ago I suggested, almost as a joke, that, if we really wanted to get big corporate sponsors interested in pool, we wouldn’t care about how the players dressed. We would worry about how the SPECTATORS dressed!

So at pool tournaments we would have to have a person who would function the way a maitre de does in an upscale restaurant. He would size up the clothing of guests, meaning our spectators, at the entrance and, in the case of people whose attire didn’t meet his standard, he would tell them they would have to sit in the second balcony, out of camera shot, in the same the way that if you are marginal in an upscale restaurant you are banished to near the kitchen door or behind a pillar. (Known as Sibere, French for Siberia, in upscale eateries.)

Why do I know even before I press “Post Reply” that this suggestion will not find support?
