This will be my first time at the Derby City Classic and I can't wait.:) This will also be the first time that they are having the three official mini tournaments.

According to their website, the Mini Tournaments still have open spots
even though they are limited to only 32 or 64 players each. The tournaments do have $1000.00 added. Does this mean that the field will be compiled of all weaker players? Has anyone on here signed up to compete in any of them or have any opinions on these mini tournaments?
Thanks!
See you all at Derby...

I am entered in the One-Pocket mini. And this is not the first year for mini tournaments

I didn't know it wasn't the first year. I also entered the one pocket mini only, but i'm still pretty new to the game. Good Luck!

You will see a variety of players from beginners to top pros. Mika played in last years mini 1P.

Some pros consider it easy money but with a race to 2 anybody could win;)

Thats what I was hoping for, I just expected the limited number of spots to be filled by now. Thanks for the info!

playing in all three minis plus the three major events

How can I resist. It is costing $2,000 for air and hotel to spend 10 days playing pool! Mini's are cheap! Got to play!

Today, I said, "what the heck" and decided to enter the One Pocket Mini on Friday. I wonder if it's Single Elimination or what?

A variety of players play, I am playing in the 9 ball mini - single elimination - and last year my first draw was rapheal martinez, needless to say after he broke and ran the first two on me i didn't win, but its still a great expierence for the price and i did manage to get out twice.

its only 400 or 500 to sing up for everthing. ya wont regret it, the Hall Of Fame dinner shouldnt be missed, its only once a year, it is on jan 27 does anybody know how to get in touch with Hondo????? i have room to put somebody up if need b, plus i can pick ya up at airport an take ya to dinner

The mini's are all open to everyone. We get a mixture of amateurs and pros that play in each one. They are all single elimination. Each one has $1,000 added. We have been doing the mini tourneys for at least 7 to 8 years now. Sign up online because they tend to fill up very quickly.

If you have specific questions feel free to PM me. I am one of the tournament directors and I run all of the mini tournaments.

Thanks for all the info! I looked at the website and it seems like the mini one pocket tournament has been filled up. Hope to see you all there.
