Derby City Qualifier Heats Up!

Agreed...Alex will bring his great personality to the tour, along with Jason and his great playing ability.

The IPT has something special to look forward to.

Now just make sure Alex keeps his shoes on HA HA HA
Ya had to watch the one pocket draw to get that joke.

How strong is this? Alex passed up a free pass on the IPT for a chance to represent his country in a contest the same week as the King of the Hill. That shows he has alot of confidence and a TON of heart to be able to get a card in the first qualifier!
He is definitely a force to be reckoned with!

From my understanding, I don't think Alex submitted his IPT application on time, which is why he didn't participate at the KOTH (he definitely would have been invited if he was one of the 150, which he wasn't). There's no doubt in my mind that he would have skipped the SEA games for the chance of winning 150k (look at the choices of Efren, Django, and Manalo).

Anywho, I'm ecstatic that Alex won his IPT tour card. It's also nice to see this year's DCC all-around (Miller) get his tour card as well. I whole-heartedly agree with SJM, that it is a very good day for the fans of pool that both of these stars are part of the IPT.

Down to the last day, with just 12 players remaining.

KT has made some offers to reward some of the entrants....
"Kevin Trudeau has spiced up the second day of the qualifier with two offers. Recognizing the intensity of the event and the fact that the entrants are playing their hearts out, he has offered free entry into the remaining three qualifiers to the last four standing in the one-loss side and the last two in the winners’ side. Also, he has challenged the players to break and run six racks, dangling a plummy $5,000 bonus as a reward. Otherwise, the qualifier carries no monetary prizes, with the exception of the winners of the one-loss and the winners’-side brackets."

Now that was pretty nice of KT to give out passes to the next qualifier for those who finished 3/6. And to offer 5K for a 6 pack. Adds a little spice to the game. Who knows what he will offer the players in the next qualifier.

Anyone who wants to see what Miller is capable of and didn't get to see him in action at the DCC this year should immediately call accu-stats (1-800-828-0397) and order the dvd of Jason winning the banks in 2004. He plays so good its freakin' scary. Beats Piggy Banks in 10 minutes and he shoots so straight, and with so much confidence, its incredible. He showed intense focus during his match with Brumback too; the guy just never lost confidence at all.

I had no idea he was this good a nine ball and one pocket player. Congratulations on a fantastic week. I thought he was dumb to not enter the bank ring game but I think I'll go put on my conical hat and sit in the corner now for doubting the guy.

Two excellent additions to the IPT.

I mean, how long can a race to 10 take?! Who's on first? Who's on second?

Results, please? :p

Jennie, you'd be amazed! Some of these matches took MUCH longer than any of the one pocket matches. Deno could clarify but if i'm not mistaken, the last match of the night on Sat took until 5:30am sun and it started sometime between 10 & 11 pm. There were quite a few matches that went multiple hours! These folks were shooting for their lives... most shot very precise and took their time. Very rarely did you see someone rush or take something for granted. I saw a lot of people staying down on the ball until the object ball had fallen into the pocket. Everyone was fighting it out and giving it their all in order to win this thing.
