I am traveling with a group to this tourny for the first time. Which weekend would veterens recommend for viewing side action games? We are tentatively planning on the last weekend...but someone advised that the first weekend is the better weekend for action. The logic being that many gamblers are busted after the first week.

Thanks

haha...haven't been to it before, but that's probably good logic. Lots of action from what i understand during the whole tournament.

Probably good advice. A lot are busted by then or just worn out.
A lot by then are eliminated from tournament play and have cleared out by then.

It's 24/7 - Never know when a big match will happen!

From my experiences there is no way to predict when or where a big match will come off. Sometimes it will be talked about for a day ahead of time but many times it just starts.
There are many places that a game can be.
Lots of them are in the Lounge.
Some are in the tournament room after midnight.
Some big ones are on the TV table and broadcast to the room TVs. This is where the best match was last year (IMO). Efren gave Cliff 8 to 7.
A lot of action the first few days as players arrive and a lot of action the last few days as backers arrive.

Tom,
Last year was my first trip to Louisville. I was only there for Saturday and Sunday, of the first week. It seemed the few match-ups I saw, everyone was playing banks. As the week goes on, do the players start to match-up according to the game that is currently in season? IOW in the middle ofthe week, do they match-up more 1P and near the end go to 9-Ball?

The best I ever saw there was during the 2002 9 ball finals! Watson and Durbin playing 15 ahead for 25k. There was about 60k posted on the light,Watson walked out with 2 stacks of 25k in each front pants pocket! I think there were more sweatin' that match than the finals!
