Well, it looks like we are doing it again.
Bob Jewett may not be available to administer it but Marpo, Elvicash and I will do the best we can to carry on his tradition in his absence.
Volunteers are welcome. If you would like to score the runs of people like John Schmidt, Danny Harriman, Thorsten Hohmann, Mika Immonen, and others of that caliber, this is your chance.
2011 Straight Pool Challenge Rules
$8,500.00 added :
Sponsors are Greg Sullivan, Bob Jewett, Stu Mattana, and Angel Levine.
Finals are matches
100% of entries returned as prizes
Prelims in the Straight Pool area, January 23-26, 2011 Sunday thru Wednesday. Finals are Thursday and Friday, January 27-28, in the Straight Pool area and on the TV table.
The game is straight pool (14.1) shoot-out -- you against the table with no opponent. There will be four days of prelims. Each try begins with a 14-ball rack and the 15th ball and the cue ball in hand, but both the 15th ball and the cue ball must be at least one ball diameter from any other ball. Each try ends on a miss or foul. We are calling all fouls. WPA Rules and Regulations apply.
A $100 entry gets you a total of four tries on three different days. No player will get more than 12 tries in the prelims. You can do more than four tries on one day if necesary, but only the first four tries each day will count for the daily prize.
The eight players with the highest runs in the prelims will play in the finals. This year the finals will be played as a single-elimination tournament to 100 points. The tournament will be fully seeded by the high runs in the prelims.
Prizes ($8,500.00 added, entries 100% returned, based on 40 players):
Prelim prizes each day: 1st $300, 2nd $200, 3rd $100 (total $600 x4 = $2400, one prize per player each day)
Finals: 1st $2400, 2nd $1700, 3rd-4th $1100, 5th-8th $700
Bonus: $1000 for high run overall.
Special bonus: $1000 for the first run over 200.
Either participate or come and watch.
Elvicash will be taping all of the attempts, as he has the last three years.
Accu-Stats will be taping most of the matches.
