Designed, Engineered and Built in America....Yeah Right!

I stop by a new mega pool/spa/billiards shop today who sells American Heritage tables with no nameplate and under another name. I crawled under the tables and sure enough the stickers on all the frame aprons stated American Heritage. I read the flyer on top of the table and it said "Designed, Engineered and Built in America". Now I have done hundreds of AH pool tables for Namco and PoolTableUSA.com and I know they are imported. Do you think it is ethical to say built in America because the end product is built here? Very deceptive i think. :(

Remember when I posted pictures of that AH table that was suppose to be NEW;)

Pat - when did American Heritage start importing? I used to live in Streetsboro, OH in the late 90's (left in 2000) and at that time, they were made in Brunswick, OH. I was in their mfg facility there and then after I left Ohio, heard they moved at least part of their offices to Streetsboro. Did they decide to import after that? Cheaper Chinese labor :( ???

They have what they call a magnaboard which contours the underside of the slate. The center slate is almost always sagging on the table. Shimming the slate against the "magnaboard" sucks. I use the liquid Dowel on all of these tables. One other thing to look for is bad rubber on the AH tables. I have done alot of recushions on tables that were only a couple years old.

Pat, The tables aren't built in Ohio... You fell for that too? I have been to the old American Heritage "warehouse" in Brunswick, Ohio. I have a good friend that is a partial owner of Lighthouse distributors (they used to share a warhouse with AH). I have rare pictures of the rail/leg boxes that are branded "Made In China" This is manipulating at its finest. AH plays on a fine line between the legal system and common moralities.

Hey Pat, just look at it this way... Job security for us!

I used to think that to Robin...

I've purchased Imperial pool tables and some of the cardboard used for packing had American Heritage logo. I don't care what anyone says, I think their made in the same factory as some Imperial, some World of Leisure, Basswood, and several other mfg.

Those sneaky basturds! We used to butt heads selling against the likes of Lighthouse locations all over NE Ohio. They promoted themselves as being made right there in Brunswick, OH. I thought it was funny that when they sold tables to Exectives in the area, they called the company I worked for to install and would not use their own installers because they wanted them done right the first time. *****s!

Thanks for the correction Pat!!!

I've seen the same thing as well as boxes marked "Vietnam".

It's called globalasation. Example Brunswick Glenwood.

Nameplate with hansom Amarican trademark logo.

Shipping boxes tell a different story about manufacturing.

IMG_4548.JPG

Slate and rails from Brazil, frame and pockets from China and legs from Vietnam.

I heard that Brunswick distribution center for Europe is in Holland. If that is so none of the tables parts have touch U.S. soil. But doesn't bother me much. I'm happy with the table.

Still Deceptive

I agree it is globalization. I have brought containers of tables from China in. But I don't believe in deceptive advertising . I certainly could get away with saying my tables are built in the USA because I set the final product up here in the USA. But my integrity won't allow that. I am glad you are happy with your table. But it seems you had done your homework beforehand and knew what you were buying. I offer my customers the option of import or domestic tables. And yes, they will both be built here in the USA. But they will know the origin. BTW those are great pictures you posted.

It is my understanding the reason you see Brazil on the box with the Brunswick rails is because the rails are finished in Brazil due to EPA restrictions on the lacquer used. Who knows though, could just be another excuse to have something made at cheaper labor.
