im going to order a new custom, but i cant seem to come up with the right wood combo.i like ebony, cocobolo, curly maple, and burl. the problem is my current cue has a curly maple handle with coco point and an ebony forearm. im looking for suggestions on what woods i can use that will look right. i was thinking curly points, ebony forearm, with coco handle, but that wont look right. any suggestions or pictures are greatly appreciated. joey

Ebony Front with coco handle would be kinda heavy (but you may like that.) How about a nice rosewood (or bubinga, with curly points, hmmmmm :D that would look nice... i hope i build one like that before JoeyinCali :p ) with curly points, and bubinga handle. Or the bubinga w/curly points, and rosewood handle... or Ebony front with curly points and Paduak Handle (but that would be kinda front heavy, but you may like that.) The possibilities are endless man, go to a cuemaker website that has pics of wood samples, and daydream and go to town, and write them down... Trust me... it's a fun exercise.

Thanks,

Jon

thanks jon, but i forgot to mention one thing. my current cue has an ebony forearm, coco points, and a curly maple handle. i want to have this cue to have the same feel/weight/balance. any suggestions to that? joey

Ok then.

Maybe an Ebony forearm with Paduak points (red-ish orange color Paduak and Macassar Ebony Squares ) And a Paduak handle, or curly handle or Bird's-eye handle. I like the Ebony and Paduak combo... but that is just me...

Thanks,

Jon

That would be ugly but that's just me.
Striped purpleheart handle with Brazilian rosewood forearm with olivewood points bordered with curly koa.
