Determining the size of a disassembled table. Rail length?

Looking to pick up a 9 footer tomorrow. There is some uncertainty as to whether its a 9 or 8 pro. The table is disassembled so I figured I'd measure the base of the rail rubber to determine rail length.

If I'm correct a regular home 8 is 40-41 inches base of rubber to base of rubber.

What would I want that number to be for a 9 foot.

and/or any better of a way to determine table size without assembling the rails and measuring the playable area.

Measure the distance between the sights. 12 1/2 inches on center if 9 footer.

Excellent idea. What should they be for a 8 pro? 12? Its 11 on an 8 foot right.
