Developing a Pool Practice Schedule

Hey Everyone,

I am trying to prepare for a big tournament coming up in March, but I am having a little trouble with finding and sticking to a practice schedule. I was wondering if any of you guys have a good (non boring) practice schedule that you would mind sharing with me. I have about 15-20 hours a week to practice and want to get the most out of it.

Thanks in advance,
Colorado Kid

Finding a practice schedule that isn't boring...... Ok for me I have found that I dont enjoy working on my problems areas as much as just playing, I think this is common for most of us. Which is also why they are your problems areas, because you dont practice them, kind of a catch 22.

Here is what I do, create a list of your weak spots, like you break, position play, draw shots, rail shots... whatever. Then spend a set amount of time on each one. You might spend 20 minutes on it or 2 hours but set a time limit and stick to it. Have a start and finish time for your practice session.

I know this doesn't sound fun but it really is the best thing for me to do to focus my practice and improve on my weaker points. You just need to discipline yourself to achieve what you want.

There are some practice games out there for specific things, like Kim Davenports precision pool. But for a all around tune up I think your better off with a personalized list of things you need to improve your game.

Target Pool is out of print, and may be hard to get and/or expensive if you're not buying with the purpose of flipping. Joe Tucker's Guaranteed Improvement has lots of interesting drills, along a progress chart to assess your improvement.

Practice playing the ghost, it will help improve your skills in getting out, and recognizing where you need to improve.

Thats what I meant "target pool" my bad. Someone just sold one here on AZ for 30 bucks or so last week.
