I'm rebuilding ChalkySticks Pad entirely to make it more feature rich, have a better UI, and make it tablet friendly.

Here's a video preview so far: https://youtu.be/B9J6MXDtS2k

Some new features to note:

  • Tablet friendly interface
  • Adding a snooker table
  • Table will scale with your browser to be larger/smaller
  • Ability to change your cloth color
  • Ability to modify table details like footspot, headspot, balkline, rack outline etc. Will have some $paid features at some point too like logo customization.
  • Multiple ball sets to choose from including default ChalkySticks, Cyclops, Snooker, Billiards, and some generics. Can add more in the future.
  • Custom line color regardless of what you click
  • Dotted, Dashed, and Solid lines
  • Lines that are near each other will now connect to each other
  • Ability to drag line joints around, so you can grab the intersection of two lines and move that
  • Better / Cleaner Massé tool
  • More robust text tool including size + custom color
  • Ability to add custom shapes to the table so you can indicate where a ball should land, etc
  • Ability to add an array of cues to the table
  • Ability to create multiple diagrams (notice the arrow icons on either side of the table)
  • Dragging a ball now uses a crosshair to make it easy for tablet users to see where a ball will land exactly. Much more precise ball placement.
  • Tooltips around the site to help new users figure out what's going on
  • Easier ability to share diagrams
  • Ability to save diagrams to your ChalkySticks account
  • Ability to make diagrams private to your ChalkySticks account

What do you guys think? Any feature requests while I'm at it?

I use the Pad frequently, and have always found it useful. Looking forward to the update.
Thank you!

A short and sincere "thank you!" for your commitment to constant improvements and asking for input. Bravo!!

Quick question: are the balls, pockets and playing area all to scale?

Thanks again!

How about a feature to break a rack of 8/9/10-ball and have random results? Then a player could practice analyzing patterns.

Just saw the video. That looks great! The UI looks great!

Is the table 100% pixel accurate with respect to size? So the ratio between the balls (2.25") and the cushion to cushion distance (50" and 100"), is correct with the pixels? I forget if it was yours or another table that was off before.

Thank you.

Great effort. Can buttons be easily added that would send the table diagram to photos/email/text?

It's mostly to scale at the moment. The pockets are 4.5" but the balls are slightly
larger than 2.25". I think they'd currently convert to like 2.6". It's something I plan to
adjust in the new one by making the tables larger. I think I ended up making the balls
slightly larger in the past to improve visiblity and resolve complaints of them being
too difficult to move.

I'm going to be revising all the tables, pockets, balls, cues, etc to make sure
scaling is correct and that it still feels easy to use / easy to see.

We have something like that now. In the "Main Menu->Options" dropdown, there's a
set of racks for 8, 9, and 10. It'll load the balls on the table then you can
press the "Randomize" button up on the top right (next to "Clear") to shuffle
them around the table.

After saving it, it'll give you options of downloading a PNG or SVG (vector/scalable)
version of it.. or sharing it. I can add options of email / text to the sharing
if you think that'd be useful.
