Diamond arrived update

Thank you for making us aware of the issues with your Diamond table. There is a local player at one of my rooms who had similar issues about a year ago when he got his Diamond table. Next time I see him I'll ask him specifically what the issues were. Now I'm even more inclined to go with the Gold Crown.

I would call Diamond directly and not Heath Manning. The dealer will try to sweep it under the rug. The manufacturer will take it seriously.
No matter what the issue, you always have to deal with the person who actually has the power to help you. That is rarely the first person you speak to. He needs to talk directly to the owner of Diamond.

I agree. Talk to Diamond directly. Provide good sharp pics and let them know you ain't too happy.

My antennae always go up when 100% payment is required to place an order for such a big ticket item. I like to have at least some leverage. I recently declined to follow through on an estimate for a whole house window shutter job because 100% payment was required up front. I went with another contractor where it was 50% up front and the balance due upon completion of the job.

caveat emptor (Let the buyer beware)
NOUN

I knew this would come up. I hope Diamond reads this. I think you are having a knee jerk reaction here, but do what you have to do.

From Diamond website....

Terms:
50% down payment to confirm order, with balance due when product leaves the factory. Please allow 12-14 weeks for production.

This has been Diamond's policy for as long as I can remember. I think they will make it right. If they dont, it will be considered a pattern of behavior, and the downward spiral of the company will commence.

The devil is in the details! This age old saying is sad but true. If a company is allowed to sell inferior products they are likely to go that way with everything else. The sad truth is it is usually just as easy to do a project to high standards as not. So why do they do substandard work? Easy answer is they do not care too. So as a consumer that receives something inferior you have two choices. Accept it and move on or stick to your principles and fight for what you expected or are willing to accept. Time to make a plus and minus / yes or no list. Then decide what your time is worth.. Feel your pain OP. Good Luck!
I ordered a new Diamond 7-foot Smart coin-op table direct from Diamond for our poolroom 4/5 years ago, at $5,500 delivered and installed, with the small matching Diamond light. First time we recovered it, it was clear from the extra set of staple marks and the visible threads of tournament blue cloth (as opposed to the Simonis green cloth that came on it) that the rails/cushions and quite likely the entire table had been a ‘tournament used’ table that they cleaned up and sold me.

As the table condition and playability seemed fine otherwise, I never contacted Diamond to complain, even though when I was negotiating ordering the table they offered me the option of a tournament used table, guaranteed to be in virtually brand new condition and recovered with new Simonis for 10% off that $5,500 price.

My hunch is this was likely not the only time this happened, but might possibly be a common practice for Diamond when selling 7’ Smart tables. It says a lot about the questionable integrity of the company. Their tables are in such high demand and they are struggling to keep up with production to the extent that possibly they feel they can get away with this practice without it being noticed by virtually all of their buyers. It’s just a matter of time until a competitor figures out how to do it better.

Update guys Heath called me saw the post from a fellow member. He said everything will be taken care of. He apologized for the experience and said that's not normal. He said diamond has a production meeting on Monday and wants to me to send some more pics over and we will go from there. I'll keep everyone in the loop but I have no doubt Heath will make it right.

Great news - The clout / influence of the AZB main forum never ceases to amaze me!

Sounds like they are going to make it right so it should all work out in the end.

Got my table about 4yrs ago. Came perfect and install was less than 2hrs. I think $5700 + another 900 for delivery/install, and got a free set of Cyclops. I think price has gone up a lot.

Hope they get you taken care of right

It's the dealers who get people....there's a few notorious ones. They know people won't wait to get a diamond used or undertake the effort to move one if the do find one used.

It happens with every manufacture of every product. Diamond is feeling the dresses that Bruswick felt decades ago. You want perfection? Build what you want. Going to complain about a few blemishes?, ok. Enjoy. Might as well not play on that table. Most these clowns can’t play a lick.
