Diamond ball polisher

Used mine today for the first time. It’s unbelievably quiet was the biggest pleasant surprise compared to my Bludworth unit. I am a bit questionable about the material of the pads they use for their unit. It is certainly a far coarser material than the F1 felt pads I’ve been using on my Bludworth machine for years.

Yes, I’m sure this material is more durable and will last longer, but I’m a little questionable as to whether it will leave the balls with as polished / high luster a finish as the F1 felt pads do, particularly when you are talking about a brand new set of premium balls like Brunswick centennials or Aramith tournaments.

I plan to conduct a little experiment, as I have two brand new sets of premium balls. I will first compare the finish/luster on the sets to make sure they are identical. Then I will spin one set in the diamond polisher and the other set in the Bludworth polisher, for a full five minutes, using a few drops of Auto Glym on each ball - a product I’ve been using for years that was recommended to me by someone on this forum. I’ll then remove and compare the luster of the two sets of balls and report back.
Meguiar's Quick Detailer works well with the Diamond units, too.

That design will only spin the balls on their center axis, it won't rotate the balls for a 100% shine, I do happen to know a little about how to design and build ball polishers😆
So in your expert opinion, what is the ideal padding material to use in the machine? I would think F1 felt would be easier on the finish surface on the balls and result in a higher luster than whatever material Diamond is currently using, on the brand new Diamond ball cleaner I just received, which was certainly not felt.

Once you've buffed the cleaner wax or what ever you're cleaning and shinning the balls with, they're only going to get as shiny as that solution is going to provide. Whether felt or carpet is used, neither provides a surface that is going to damage the balls, as that material is 10× harder than the buffing surface being used.

The problem with all buffing surfaces is the build up of the wax, at some point that surface is packed in with the cleaning solution. A better buffing surface would be high density foam rubber, because it won't absorb the wax, and cake on the surface, and you could simply clean it off with a cleaning solution, and start from fresh every couple of weeks, never needing to replace anything.
