A friend saw a piece of black rubber that was said to be made by/for Diamond tables. He is thinking of replacing the rubber on some of his older gold crowns but I think he should learn more about it before taking the leap, so I thought that you all may be able to educate me so I can educate him.

Is this the current rubber used by Diamond?
If so, is this the rubber used for the blue label tables or something different?
Is this the really fast rubber that was used at the BCAPL 7' tables?
When installing this black rubber on an older gold crown, anything that needs to be done?

Any and all info is appreciated - thank you in advance.

Why not just buy Super Speed rails & replace with what it should have on it?

Unless your friend is planning on spending enough money to have the sub-rails recut the table won't play right. The cushions have two different profiles the Diamond Black is K66 and the Gold Crown is a K55. Yes you can saw the subsoil flat install the K66 and call it a day but the table won't play any where near as good as it possibly can. This has been debated a hundred times on these threads.

Then Diamond black cushions are the K55 profile, not the K66, just letting you know.
