Diamond Ipt Specs

i spoke to the founder of diamond tables today, and i found out a few specs that caught my attention. the pockets are not 4 and a quarter inches, they are 4 and a half inches, they are cut so that the openings and the throat of the pocket match up, a little over my head, but the jist is they are 4 and a half inches in front. also, the slate is one inch thick and one piece, for easy fast set up. and the ball return is lined with acoustic dampening material of sorts and it's gravity pulled, so it's ultra quiet and fast. boy, it's some solid well thought out table!

Do you know what height the tables will be set at? From floor to top of rail.

I'm wondering if my table is a little high.

btw: Bernie, the pockets have been claimed as 4.5 inches for the IPT for a long time. Just some people got a bit confused about them being 4.25.

I prctice 4.3" and they are tightening up a little as the cloth around the jaws wears in. 4.5" with new cloth should seem pretty generous by comparison.

Me too :( I have 4.375" and my cloth is about 3 weeks old. About one week ago balls quit dropping  It is driving me mad. When the cloth was fresh, I was running out from everywhere... Now I feel like breaking things lol

If the mouth was bigger than the throat, like most tables, well hit balls would spit back out when they should fall. Diamond does this to compensate for the tight pockets.

and the ball return is lined with acoustic dampening material of sorts and it's gravity pulled, so it's ultra quiet and fast. boy, it's some solid well thought out table! I hope thay are not slow. The only Diamond I have played on is a pain. The ball return takes a lifetime to return balls. They seem to have some sort of complex maze down there where the balls travel great distances to get to the return. Even the pockets right by the return...

Bernie,

Are you saying the guy indicated the pocket = 4 1/2" , the throat =4 1/2" and the mouth (opening) = 4 1/2" ? That means the pockets are cut much differently than industry standards. It should also make them easier to re-cushion. I think I'm going to do a little geometry and try to compare to WPA and BCA standards.

Looks like-

WPA corner pocket specs- 4 1/2" corner pocket diameter, 142 deg. horizontal cut (minus 90 deg=52 degree cut),vertical (backdraft) cut = 12 -15 degree, pocket shelf = 1" - 2 1/4", facings = 1/8", cushion nose height= 1 13/32" prefered (per Championship. WPA uses per cent of ball height.),bed height = 29 1/4" -31".

IPT corner pocket specs- 4 1/2" corner pocket diameter, 135 deg. horizontal cut ( minus 90 deg=45degree cut, vertical (backdraft) cut=?(probably the same as WPA), pocket shelf = looks to be close to 1 1/2" from Colins pic, Nose and bed height should fall in same specs as WPA.

Any pics or observations on side pocket? WPA side = 5", 104 deg.(14 deg), shelf = 0 - 3/8".
