Diamond Professional 8' Questions

Well I heard back from Diamond...it's minimum 4 month wait. Plus some other unwelcomed news. With Christmas fast approaching I opened FB Market Place and BAM! I'm off to start a GC IV Pro 8 thread and reserve a 12 foot box Uhaul trailer.
What other unwelcome news? I'm assuming price increase? I'm hopping to be able to order a 9 foot this summer.

Its a real shame that there is not a suitable replacement for Dymondwood yet. It must have been used for stuff other than just billiards I would think??

DymondWood from Rutland Plywood Corp. was also used for knife handles, gun stocks, ink pens, archery bows, whistles, pool cues, and probably many other products.

My understanding is that Dymalux chipped too easily during manufacturing.

What about WebbWood?

Has Diamond explored other options? Or, have they just said the hell with it, this is what we have (PRC and wood)?

I wish they still made the charcoal grey. I would have preferred it over PRC. I think they look awesome. I do think the old stuff feels tougher than the PRC based on the tables I have played on that have it but that's just my opinion. Nothing scientific to back up that claim.

Yes, my dream table was the 9' Dymondwood Pro/AM in the Rosewood color.

It was a sad day when that factory burned down.

I'm paying attention to the market for a used one on the west coast (blue label).

PRC is made by Shaw flooring and I think its phenolic resin and recycled carboard. Black gray and reddish maroon? Oak and exotic woods! Dymalux had tons of flaws.

There is a few of them at a bar where I live they have seen a lot of hard use and are holding up well.

Well the color of the charcoal was the first problem I heard about & saw, people complained it had brown streaks in it, they discontinued it. Rosewood table I installed, a small chunk of it chipped off in the pocket area when installing the pocket. I heard from factory: cracking and warping. With all of the "flakiness" of the product, it was screwing Diamond and us dealers over all the time, having quality issues to sending entire orders of it back. Warranty stuff for Diamond was likely a nightmare and no one wins when a third parties material fails. They discontinued all of it. I would have done the same thing. Terrible the DYMONDWOOD product cannot be reproduced.

Interesting well if dymondwood ever comes back if the swap isn't outrageous in cost for rails I may look into it. I really dig that charcoal color.
