Diamond question what exactly is a pro cut pocket?

Are pro cut pockets only specifying that you want tight dimensions or does it mean the way they are physically cut?

Are the rails cut exactly to specification without the need to add anything to the end of the rubber or do they sometimes require (for lack of the right word) facings, shims or something extra to make them a tad longer?

If you order pro cut pockets on a new Diamond, what would the dimensions be? How much tolerance would there be in getting that size? 1/16th, 1/8th of an inch?

Diamond has a Pro-cut and a League-cut set of specs for their pockets. It basically refers to the pocket sizes although they have a specific specs for the pocket angles and the down angle of the end of the rail.

Pro-cut = 4-1/2" corner pockets and 5" sides.
League-cut = 5" corners and 5-1/2" sides.

If you have a table that is more open than those specs and would like to tighten it to those dimensions (or any others), you would need to add something to the end of the rail to do so. Diamond's Pro-cut are already built to the proper length to get those dimensions, but for an already existing rail, an extension needs to be built on to the end of the rail.

And thank God you don't have to be a Pro to own a table with Pro cut pockets. Josh would have packed up my table and took it back home with him. ;-)

LOL If you guys only knew how bad I play. ;) I wouldn't criticize anyone's level of play. I do so much work on tables in the AM I'm sick of 'em by PM. :D I'm a 4-games-a-week league player.
Besides, we all start somewhere. And Ted, you've got a hell of a table to learn on!

Vegas was great. I had a lot of good conversations with a lot of good people. Let me get things caught up a little around here and I'll be in touch with you soon to schedule something. Thanks!

I think I have it, but PM me in case. We've got 6 tables to recover at the Fox and Hound in Parma, so we'll be coming up sometime soon. I'll call you on Monday and we'll figure something out. Talk to you soon.
