Do the same tracks (that Robert Byrne shows in Standered book of pool & billiards) work for billiards and pocket billiards. If Im not mistaken billiard balls are larger, wouldnt they roll longer ?.....

I think the size is pretty close to the same, so the tracks will be pretty similar. However the table size is different.
There are some interesting diamond systems for making 2 and 3 rail kicks on pool tables, and a few of them have been posted on the forum... maybe try a search for diamond system and see if you can find them (it'll take some digging but it's worth it).
