Diamond table domination

wtf. 'sad'???? in drama club as a kid?? ;) seriously, we're talking about pool equipment. if MR went CPBA/Dynaspheres would the game somehow be tarnished? please. I've played on both ANDY and CPBA and both played great. Simonis makes great stuff but they don't have some secret cheat code. Championship also makes great cloth. Its from Mexico, is that verboten too??
Relax dude, why are you so easily triggered by the littlest things?

I was referring to nostalgia and familiarity.

I've seen CPBA a lot on YouTube matches but never played on them, that's why I asked the question. I believe the WPBA use them in all their tourneys.

I'm about to change the cloth on my table so I'm wondering if I should go with CPBA or Simonis.

Just saw that Matchroom has now partnered with CPBA cloth, so they will no longer be using Simonis cloth for WNT tournaments.

Has anyone played on CPBA cloth? And if so, how does it compare to Simonis 860HR?
I got my table for free. 8 footer of unknown make. It is slate, but that's about all it has going for it.

After lots of research I settled on CPBA Competition which was around $200 from Amazon. It's been 2 years now with play for multiple hours daily. I believe it was worth the gamble and a solid product. It simply wasn't as fast as the diamond tables at my local bar which had Simonis, but not significantly. Enough to notice but not enough to ruin my game or anything like that. A year ago the local bar reconditioned with Championship cloth. That hasn't held up as well as the Simonis, simply has worn out significantly, bad table rolls now due to the wear. That place is busy with several leagues going nightly, BCA, APA, ULP, 10ball weekly tournaments.

Thank you! That price is very appealing compared to Simonis. I also have an 8ft Brunswick with 3-piece slate, so I'm hoping it pairs well.

Anyone know the difference between CPBA Tournament grade vs Royal grade? Which is closer to Simonis? I also see CPBA MG700

Found Royal grade in gray color for $220

Competition grade is $188 so I'm assuming it's less premium and not as fast as Royal.

Far from triggered pal. It just cracks me up how people think that only simonis/aramith are capable of world class products. IMO Simonis has gotten very complacent over the years. They just expect people to bow down to that 300yr old horseshit. After the flood their products were not as good. CPBA makes great cloth and is aggressively attacking Simonis' once untouchable reputation. Keep up or get run over. Also, i'm under zero illusion that CPBA's bid was helped by CCP $$. MR is a business and i'd bet they came with WAY more $$ than Simonis could dream about.

That's understandable and I agree. I'll probably be going with CPBA over Simonis for my home table.

Back in the day it used to be all Brunswick tables with Andy or Championship cloth in every pool hall. Nowadays it's Diamond tables with Simonis cloth. Looks like the future will be all CPBA, and I wonder what table will overtake Diamond, if ever.

Unlike Predator and Rassoon, I think Brunswick has a shot at biting into Diamond's marketshare. (ironic!).

About every week on FB I see another room that has just bought 10 or so new GC7's. I just saw one 5 min ago and that's what brought me back to this thread. I never saw any of that with the other two brands.

For so many room owners to buy the new GC7, that means pricing in bulk is much better than individual retail, and it means those room owners WANT something other than Diamond.

Also, unless Diamond has changed in recent years, their price for buying 1 table is the same as 30 tables.
New GC 7 is available at 4 1/4 4 1/2 and 5 inch corners - no 4 3/4 - personally think that they should have gone with the 4 3/4 instead of a full 5 inch corner - I think , for a room , the 4 3/4 is a perfect compromise for the majority of tables in a room-

ANDY is great too. I think Simonis' post-flood issues are pretty much done. My local spot bought 860 a while back and its perfect. Wish they'd gone HR because of the humidity but its still nice. My favorite was the ANDY988 they used a few yrs back. Loved the way it played.

That's interesting. Google is saying Royal is faster than Comp, but I know 760 is way faster than 860.
I only hit a couple on Royale in a billiard store. My 'cloth memory' told me Comp was faster. Comp is 65/35 where Royal is 85/15. Royal is a little heavier. Higher nylon content usually means faster. I'd have to A/B them side by side. Comp was a lot like 988Andy.

Competition would be great. The more tables the better.
That way, Diamond would have to reside itself to being the toilet paper that the pool world wipes it's ass with.
It's proper place in the world.

Yes these specs have changed now - they had originally planned for the 5 inch and no 4 3/4 — they must have seen a lot of feedback as I felt too that 43/4 makes so much more sense than a 5 given today’s pocket spreads.

I am glad hat they changed original voiced pocket specs and the 43/4 option should help them a bit.

You spent several thousand dollars on a table that was not installed correctly, sent an email that never got a response, and then did nothing else? Didn't bother calling them? Was it Diamond or a distributor/reseller that installed that table?

I've had two Diamond tables installed by Diamond and have had zero issues. I just find that hard to believe.
Ditto

Just watching a live stream and it occurred to me. Are there any other tables other then Diamond that are used today? That is some domination of a market.
Domination through innovation.

Beibg able to put these on their side in a Diamond cart with 3 guys, roll them 4 wide on a tractor trailer by 4 long=16 tables .... so you can move them without reclothing to the next event is why.

They all play the same. Keep value. And they don't change the basic design which let's them hold value.

Rasson tables are fine, not as good and they don't have the presence has in the USA to even compete.
