Hey our buddy in Florida is looking to get a new table, to upgrade his GC4. I told him about the new Predator, that it plays like a GC. He went to the showroom that had them, and loved them. He said it plays just like a GC, but looks super modern. He disliked the bounce of the Diamonds quite strongly.
why would anyone upgrade a gc 4 it was one of the very best tables ever.

I also love my Professional table. Should have another category to pick.
Honestly, I probably would be happy with a Rasson or even a New Gold Crown also. I like the looks of both, and like Rassons leveling better. They are all good in a home if set up right and you like the look. So much of what you like and feel about in a table is actually dependent on the dealer and setup. It's too bad manufactures don't understand this and take steps to train their dealers better.
While some complain about the cost of a high end table, it actually is worth it for a lifetime investment of something you truly enjoy doing. I think there would be less complaints about the cost, if you could count on your expensive table being professionally installed. As it stands now, with no oversight from the manufacture, it's a crapshoot as to what you get with a table install.

I play on 9 ft tables, both diamond and others, and 9-ft tables are the best way to hone in your stroke. Diamond tables have livelier rails and bank a bit different than the other 9-footers. You have to get used to the rails on a Diamond table before you are competent on it.

Don't like the deep shelves very much. Not sure why Diamond thought that was a useful design.
Olhausen has deep shelves on tables we play, and everybody is complaining all the time about balls rattling the pockets and not dropping in. Sometimes too tough is not so good. It's sort of like the game of golf, average type players teeing off from the back tees and making fools of themselves and not enjoying their game.

I have never warmed up to their corner pocket shapes.
We have Diamonds and GC1s in our room…..I can drive a froze ball down the rail on a Diamond much more successfully than a GC because of that different cut even though the pocket opening on a Diamond is smaller. RKC can explain it.

I find the people that rave over the tables like they are the greatest thing ever to be the most annoying.

"We're playing on diamonds" Chill out people it's another table. They all pretty much all play the same. This might be geared towards them low level APA players. :ROFLMAO:

I always thought that the Cherry Dymondwood Diamonds were great looking tables in either a 7' or 9', but especially the 9' tables with the rounded corner rails.

What I do not like is the 45º angle on the outer corner pocket.
Has nothing to do with rolling a ball down a rail.
Purely esthetics.
Has nothing to do with where balls are on the table.

gold crowns didnt have slop pockets. they spit out balls that were hit badly along the rail. but unlike olhausen and diamond they didnt hang up so much.

over the years i have run into very very few pool room players that ran too many balls on bigger pockets.

top pros a different story. anyone that isnt a real pro can bet all they want they dont run out the table after the break. the window is open.

If you think valleys and diamonds are the same you know nothing about tables.

never played a valley
I was going to write out a long comment but if you never played on a valley .. literally the highest produced table in the country I would guess.. I can’t take your comment seriously lol you must be very fortunate That you only play in a nice pool hall or you’ve only played at your house. Lol either way saying all table are the same and you never played on the most mass produced table every made is quite funny.
