Yes shipping charges can be saved if you pickup the table.
A 8ft table will not fit in the box of a pickup truck.
The tail gate would be down, table would have to be on its side is you're purchasing an assembled table or disassembled as the rails on each side are too long.
Honestly I wouldn't recommend buying an assembled table if your picking it up.
They are very heavy and once you have it loaded on your truck you are responsible for it.
You will also need a diamond certified installer to set up the table as Diamond tables are not like other tables.
It's much easier to move in pieces and carry into your home.
If you're installing in your basement the table would be disassembled when picked up.
