Diamond triangle racks. Do you put the diamond corner up front?

I just saw a Diamond rack with an inlay missing (does that make it an outlay now?) for the first time last weekend. Been playing on mostly Diamonds for almost 4 years now.

I've seen it happen as well. The racks are less quality than the table...especially at $50 for a wood rack..

I'll post a pic later of the replacement rack I use when the diamond racks need to be replaced.

This may seem a strange idea but why doesn't someone with a Diamond table ask Diamond about the diamond on the rack?

From what I was told, the diamond goes in front, the line in the back is for reference to line up with the diamond on the table in the rear of the rack and the diamond in front is to line up with the diamond at the head string (where you are breaking from). If you will notice, there is a line at the back of the rack.

I did ask someone!!

My experience is that sometimes the diamond up front gives you the best rack. But sometimes not.

Sometimes flipping the rack over will help, other times you have to move the diamond to a different corner. And not all Diamond racks are equal and it can help to grab a rack from a different table.

I do like the slit at the back of the rack. If you've got the line draw between the spot and back rail, with the diamond up front, it helps keep things lined up right.

Not a diamond rack but mine does the same thing. I had to mark it so
it would be in same position every time I rack 9 ball. The two balls behind
the head ball will not touch unless the one corner is up. No issues when
racking 8 ball.
