Diamonds!

Our league hall got four new 7-ft Diamonds and last night I played on them for the first time.

New Simonis. Wow, really unpredictable. I overran some shots and came up short others. I don't know if it was because of new cloth, but I swear the balls rolled differently depending on which way they were going. I don't recall this problem when the Simonis on my home table was new. Is that a thing? Until they get some wear the knap has balls traveling in one direction go faster or slower than in the opposite direction?

Just new fast cloth that you didn’t adjust well to. It’s not an equipment issue. They will slow down when they get worn and you’ll figure it out.

It's a thing - was watching an old video where Jerry Briesath was explaining a lot of the things that were happening/adjustments because of new cloth - pretty interesting.

Nope. It was you. 🙂

You'll also find that you can draw like a Greek god and the balls will slide unnaturally along the rails. You can actually use that to play a ball into a corner pocket by skidding off a rail almost a diamond away from the pocket if you want/need to.

Depending on the amount of play they get, they'll settle down in a couple of weeks or so as the cloth breaks in...

Typical play on fast cloth. Over run a bunch of shots then get gun shy and under run a bunch, then back and forth. Yes, it's frustrating.

as with anything. the better learn to adjust to present conditions faster than others. as they change every day in pool.

the only thing that seems to stay the same in this world is stupidity.

I've never had problem with new cloth, in fact I love it...but...I'm not a big fan of Diamond tables...
