I am sitting here watching a match between Johnny Archer and Steve Mizerak from 1992. Nick Varner and Beenie are commentating. They pan over to a match between Hopkins and Lane and Varner says that Dick Lane owns the Click's Billiard chain in Texas with 12 locations. If does or did, he has to be well off. Anybody know the story on this?

I was living in the DFW area at that time and I recall hearing that Dick had some ownership in it along with some other people. I never confirmed it with Dick so I don't know for sure if it's true or not.

While I believe it is public knowledge that Dick has some percentage of this chain, I don't think that the exact percentage is public knowledge.

I wasn't trying to get into his business :o . I was just curious if there was an interesting story behind it.

According to a Clicks manager here in Az, the chain was started by a group of attorneys in Tx, and Dick does have some ownership. I don't know if he was in on the ground floor or not, and I have no idea how much ownership he has. I like the chain though, and have been impressed with the 6 that I have visited so far. The room I can most often be found in is a Clicks.

Dick Lane was born in a family with millions of $ of old money. He grew up in a small East texas town called Tyler if remember it well.He is carefull with his money.

Click's was founded by Nick Alexander, and Dick Lane. There are several major stockholders. Nick has been the managing partner, since the business began. Dick Lane has always been a class act in pool, and continues to play at a very high level, although he doesn't play on a 'pro' tour anymore.
