Did Alex quit (again)?

I know! And you got it on your second pick! Lol

See, wasn't so hard.

Always the bridesmaid and never the bride
Second place just means the first loser.
or something like that ... oh well.
Nice to meet ya John.

I like watching Fischer play, his high gear is up there with the best of them. Speaking of Fischer, Holdaway is playing a bit more as of late, he used to be one of the big dogs and vanished for a while

Seems like a pile of the real players are hitting up Tony's for the royal city 9 ball, The players from London, Kitchener and GTA seem to find there way there more than ever.

I'll have to check out shooterville sometime, been hanging at Frederick mostly on the 12 footers

His "high" gear.......yep :)
(couldn't resist)

LOL - yea, I remember that one. Actually IIRC, they wrote that in the script as a paraphrase of something Dale Earnhardt Sr. said once. I'll see if I can find the clip.

referencing Nascar I believe you were right when you said 2nd place is just the 1st loser, tournament pool, or poker not so much.

Actually, I think 'roast' may have been a Freudian slip....
...after all, we may be roasting Alex a little bit in this thread.

Here's Alex, playing a game he thinks he's good at....
...but I can tell that he's thinking of raising with an 8-J off-suit.....
....hey, they're connected

J-8 off suit, and they're "connected". PT, you are great poster, and a good dude, and I'd like to drink a beer with ya sometime, but for God's sake, please tell me you are not giving Alex poker lessons :p

Actually, they are considered connected. Any two hole cards that can possibly make a straight are considered "connected." They do not have to be sequential to be considered "connected." Players would refer to the J - 8 as a two gaper. Three gapers are the best to make good, as they are very hard to put a player on.

Have a blast with your family on the trip, sounds like big fun !!

RJ, I ain't no Doyle Brunson, but don't play poker with me.

J-8 off suit is an unplayable hand. If you play hands like this you will go broke. I would only play it in the big blind if no one raised!

Fair enough. Never see them mention it that way on poker, and I watch and play a lot of poker. Just never used the term connectors, just 2 gapper or 3 gapper, etc.

But, technically, they can be called connectors, maybe PT knows a little something ;)

I'm with ya. I don't think I play that tight, but folks have called me "the drum" on more than one occasion ;) But man, can you bluff later on in the game !!

Depends on the situation Jay, you know that
Jason

Heads up, I'm 4 betting J8 offsuit :)
Multi way pot with a bunch of tight players, I may throw in up to 3BB to play it, with 4 or more in the hand. And only if I'm late to act.

Jay, you very well know that sometimes you gotta play any two....and raise.
...if you become predictable,,,,might as well just mail in your dough and stay home.

Couple of my biggest cash wins...they didn't know what to do with me...whether the flop
was high or low.....'course, sometimes I feel like I'm just keeping the chair warm...:o

I'm going with that hand maybe once in 20 times. I don't mind throwing bad cards away and waiting for the next hand. It will be there in a minute!

Heads up (two handed) of course you have to play more hands. I'm talking about a full or nearly full table. You get to see a lot of hands before the blinds come around.

I'd rather raise with a pair of 4's! At least you're starting with something. :)
I like to make a move when I smell a bluff. What do you do with J8-O when you get re-raised?
I adhere to the three P's; Patience, Power and Position. And I've done all right (middle limits) playing that way, with an occasional variation.
