Did Bihun sign Rambows?

Looking at various signed Rambow cues, I've noticed more than one style of writing. ( Likely this would be Herman's and Charlie's)
But then - some Rambow cues have a third, not-so-distinct style of writing on them.

Some of this 'not-so-distinct' writing could probably be attributed to bad attempts at forgery. But on the other hand, I've seen cues that absolutely for sure came directly from Rambow's shop, that have writing that doesnt appear to belong to Herman or Charlie.

Was anyone else, namely Steve Bihun, signing cues for Rambow?

It might explain where these other styles of writing are coming from...

According to Stan Laner*, when Herman Rambow died, his apprentice Steve Bihun took over the shop and continued to produce 'Rambow' cues, with a signature and everything.

(Bihun also moved the 'shop' out to the western suburbs, to his daughters house)

The fact that Bihun posthumously produced and sold 'Rambow' cues seems to be causing some Rambow cue owners to squirm in their seats, for fear of having a "Bihun Rambow" versus a real Rambow.

Mr. Laner also said he eventually bought Rambow's equipment from Bihun, because apparently Bihun's eyes were getting bad enough to keep him from working on cues any longer. With the equipment, Mr. Laner was also given a letter authorizing him to "use" Rambow's name, which he never did, and never intended to.

The Laner family was in the billiard business for nearly 100 years in Chicago. (and Detroit)
 
Is "Stan" Sid's son? Aren't they still in the biz? I thought they still had a shop on the north side of Chicago (just north of Foster, on either Lincoln or Western). It was still there just a few years ago.

they officially closed shop at the end of 2009 :(

i believe stan is syds son - or grandson - i hadnt asked :sorry:
