did i see that right?

$3000 is way too much money for 3 days and it is not a full day with you playing and learning one on one. The 3000 dollars is better off being spent on buying an actually table. For 3K I think I could get a world champion to spend a week with me. If Jeanette Lee charged $200 per day, she would have people showing up. Whoever puts the Idea in Lee's head that she is worth $1000 per day, should be fired. I really don't think anyone will pay that price.

Jimmy Connors charges $25,000 to come to your city for two days for tennis lessons. John McEnroe charges more. Maybe Jeanette isn't charging enough.

Another lesson in relativity. If people are willing to pay it, then it's a fair price. I wouldn't pay $18 million for a Van Gough painting, but there are those who would, and they would consider it a bargain. Go figure.

Dinovirus or anyone else on this forum going to Jeanette Lee's pool school and paying the 3K+ airfare to get lessons in a group setting? Better question: If you had to spend $3000 + airfare to get pool lessons, how would you spend it and who(m) would you spend it on.

Dinovirus, I agree with you that if people pay for it, that is what it is worth at that time. Wealthly communities and families pay those top tennis & golf pro's that kind of money for those lessons because there kids are going to aspire to be top players some day (at least that is what their parents think!) and hopefully make the MILLIONS those players make.

Some young kids of today don't start rapping just to rap. They aspire to get recording contracts and make millions like their idols.

If Jeanette Lee can get people to pay that kind of money, more power too her. I think she would be better off at a much lower price to get more people interested in PROFESSIONAL POOL (either playing or supporting it on tv or at venues) and to let people know how difficult making a living as a professional player really is and what it takes to be a top player....Jeanette Lee is only looking out for herself, and I really don't blame her in the state that "professional" pool is in. Every man and woman for themselves...

Only a handful of pro pool players have really been successful in this game / business over the last 4 decades.....

And your comparison of Jeanette Lee to the hall of famer Tennis and Golf pros is way out of line. If Jeanette Lee wasn't an attractive women who can play good pool, nobody would ever know her name. You don't see any magazine articals, commercials or tv appearence of Karen Corr or Allison Fisher or Julie Kelly do you? Only of Jeanette Lee or Jennifer Barretta.

Yes, Jeanette is very attractive, and yes, she's a wonderful pool player. She's also the most charismatic professional pool player since Minnesota Fats.
I think her four day pool school is most logically viewed as being in competition with baseball fantasy camps and similar experiences. Nobody goes to a baseball fantasy camp because they see it as the way to get the best possible instruction. They know they'll get quality instruction, but they do it mostly for the thrill of being there, and for the genuine excitement of spending time with one or more legends of the game.

JustPlay, did you see my post about the other instructors, hotel, food, etc. for the Black Widow Experience? It's not just Jeanette, it's three top pro players and (arguably) the two best instructors in the world as well. And it's not just lessons, it's food and lodging. Also I'm sorry but I don't agree that Jeanette is just out for herself. Sure, she's trying to make a living, but she's also one of the greatest ambassadors the sport has ever had and is always friendly and personable with the fans, ALWAYS (as well as being one of the nicest players on tour, period). Jeanette became the player she is because of her dedication, hard work and pure love for pool.....AND her name is out there because she marketed herself well and backed it up with a solid game. IMHO she deserves every bit of notoriety she's attained. (What a businesswoman!!!)

BTW, nice post, sjm.

Mrs. Impson, I agree with you about Jeanette Lee 100%!! I never mentioned any bad qualities about Jeanette Lee, she is a really good person.

I just think she would be better served if the price was much lower. Mrs. Impson, would you spend 3K on 3 days of group training or would you pay a champion 3K for private lessons for a week?

SJM, I almost agree with your analogy of a "fantasy camp" enviornment, in that Jeanette Lee is the only familiar face people reconize. If Archer, Strickland, Varner, Sigel, Morris, Souquet etc were apart of it then she might have something, if that what she is trying to accomplish.

$3000+airfare, would you spend that kind of money on group lessons?

Well, JustPlay, I personally wouldn't spend $3,000 on much of anything, except our family vacation or something we can all enjoy together, but then again I'm not willing to put my family in debt for my pool-related fixes. All I'm saying is that for someone who is willing, and interested in not just lessons from three top players and two terrific instructors, but also in hanging out with them all weekend, with meals and lodging included, it's not as bad as it sounds when you say, "Would you spend $3K for lessons with Jeanette for three days?" Know what I mean? ;)

Mrs. Impson,

We are both on the same page in regards to spending that kind of money, and that is exactly my point. Why would anyone else spend that kind of money on lessons.. I wish her luck...However those other instructors and former players are not world champions or well known for there play at a championship level (I know Breedlove used to play at a high level some years ago),also, I dont take anything away from any of there skills as instructors or players.

I guess we will have to wait and see what the market will bear when that time rolls around.....
