Did the cue market fall apart?

It seems that earlier in the year I had 0 problems selling cues, but now it seems like its pulling teeth to get any kind of deals done. I know something has changed due to me getting a cue back I sold earlier this year in less than a day and had 8 PMs and legit offers about it and now I posted it again and haven't even got a "hello how are ya" lol Are others having the same experience? I have several cues I posted across different platforms and I don't try to Highball with my prices and even at low prices things don't seem to be moving.

Thanks :-)

Yet, getting a Diamond pool table takes forever due to huge backlogs... go figure...

I do seem to have a lot of folks that were talking about new cues but are now deciding to revive their old ones instead. Refinishing, new wraps, etc.

Markets falling apart? Just read a piece that said credit card debt in the USA has topped $1 Trillion. That tells me there are lots of people buried past their eyebrows. This has to have a bearing on consumer buying habits.
It's not how much you make, it's how much you spend:ROFLMAO:

Many players that I know are not buying. Instead they have a butt that feels good and then they buy a Kielwood or Carbon Fiber shaft for it.

If you need to sell a cue, the best way is go on Facebook and raffle it off

Market is always there if the stick is priced even remotely fair.

I see sticks that are started so high and then come down a few dollars which does nothing for the market.
Or, you see people stand firm on a stick that they think is worth more than it really is.

Yeah quality tables are a must have, but having cues costing in the thousands isn’t. At least that’s my take. Economy is tanking and those things in the “Want” category are going to suffer.

So my view on this it's a combination of general economic misery coupled with a pretty significant swing in what collectors are and are not adding to their collections.

The net impact is a downgrading in overall value for a large percentage of cues that the current sellers are choosing to ignore. Which they can, as long as they don't actually need money to either pay bills or fund new purchases.

If this prolongs and you start to see cues being sold by highly motivated sellers, then you will see market prices realign with market value.

I bought a bunch of cues during COVID. Prices seemed to be very low then. For example, I bought a really nice Runde for $1,000 and now I see them listed for over $3k. I also bought a really nice Wes Hunter for $775, now roughly the same cue is $1,800. I also bought a plain jane Cog for $700.

IIRC when studying economics in school, many years ago, it was called Capitalism.

Disclaimer: No political implications or alignments inferred.

I don’t own a table but did ramp up for a year or two buying a couple ~$400 Lucasi cues so that if I went to the pool hall with friends then everyone has their own to use. Then I got my own nicer playing Jacoby cue.

Now I’ve got two JB cases to put them all in and keep them safe.

What else is going to motivate me to buy more? (shrug)

Everyday there are 1,000's of cues for sale somewhere, but Diamond tables are in short supply new, and almost as hard to get your hands on one used, and not really much cheaper than new at that. And yet, there's a ton of used GC's on the market if you know where to look, and they're cheap as hell compared to a new GC. Cues and pool tables can't be compared in sales.
