Dieckman has been talking some trash and it is time to beat him with his own cue.

I haven't figured out exactly how I'm going to corner hook him on a table with no pockets, but I'm game to try.

He has reserved the TV table at carom cafe this afternoon. we should be playing live on the web cam some time between 2 and 3 oclock today.

Call it what you will...Col. Sanders vs a chicken eating fat man.... I'm gonna try to put some points up against the king of carom cues. Check it out!

I was supposed to see Dennis this evening but unfortunately I am unable to make it out there... Very disappointed about that; however I have to be at a meeting with my wedding band :rolleyes: under penalty of death from the wife-to-be.

So, I will try to call him later, but in case I forget, please let him know I am sorry!

Dieckman, the gentleman, made sure I scored 20 points in the first race before closing me out. I caught a gear in our 2nd 25 point match and scored 8 in three innings. Again he played too strong for me and I lost 25-16. The third set I don't care to discuss. Let it suffice to say that I dedicated the performance to my dog.

Dieckman reigns supreme and beat me with my own cue (nearly complete but not yet ready for delivery).

Back to practice.
 
I'm thinking about going down to Carom Cafe on December 6th, want to try playing on a nice table for once.
 
VERY sorry I couldn't make it out last night.

Instead, I got to battle traffic for four hours total in order to see a 30 minute band showcase!:mad:

Anyway, the band is good, and that is off the check list, so I guess that's a good thing....
 
Gian, The lesson/instruction along with his many stories, are a treasure by itself. Good show, only wish its' was on table #6 vs #1. So we could hear the trash!!!

Carom Cafe is so very worth the trip. Yes the equipment is superb, but so too is the staff and talent of the players. Michael Kang runs a great room and has an employee who keeps the tables and balls in top shape. Between 25 point games, the house man replaced the balls with new polished ones, and he vacuumed the felt.

Watching our game, at various times, were US champion Sonny Cho, Hugo Patino, house pro Young Gul Lee, Min Jae Pak and many other hugely talenter players.

It is such a rich environment for the billiard lover...stroke a 7 rail shot, hear the response from the onlookers and have a memory for life. Playing friends at the Carom Cafe is as good as it gets for me.

I ended up going on Dec. 6th, it was awesome. There was a pro tournament going on, and it was great seeing them make shots I've only dreamed of. I wasn't playing in the pit, but the table past it. It wasn't heated but it was like glass compared to the table I'm used to playing on. Ran a 4 on my first inning :)
 
I have been playing pocket billiards for the last 25 years, but 3C for only the last couple years. Small runs or clever solutions in 3C are very satisfying for me. It feels like my enthusiasm has been renewed to play and to practice.

A run of four is great...the fact that you remember it is evidence of the pleasure I too am savoring in this fine game. Carom Cafe is about 3 hours from my doorstep and I get there whenever I can. Hopefully there will be a Drawman vs Wild Willy matchup in the near future.!

fo sho. My high run is actually 5 so far. Should be better soon enough.

Much of the key to runs, and the game in general, is shot selection. Study the films and try to guess what they'll do before the player decides.

A couple of generalities.
Which shot choice gives you more than 1 chance to score.
Play the 4th rail or more rather than a strict 3 rail shot, if it's there. This will many times add another chance if making.
Avoid manufacturing angles with extreme strokes whenever possible.
Try to keep both balls visible and in front of the cb. ie if banking to the corner come in behind if possible and push the balls down table.
