i work in a photography studio for a furnature factory. we get 14"x14" swatches of leather and fabrics all the time. i was wondering...is suede (sp?) not good for a wrap? also...what size piece of leather would be needed for someone to put it on a cue? thanks,
jay

tho 14 x 14 is more than big enough, you should be able to get
3 wraps from that much leather, I'm guessing you get
upholstery leather, which is abouit twice the thickness
you want for a cue wrap

IMHO, the hassle/expense of getting it thin enough
would be more than the cost of buying a wrap blank.

Jeff - The Leather Wrap Blanks are .022-.025 thick, which is the approximate thickness of linen for a wrap. Let say you have a piece of leather that is .040, this means we have to sand or cut in the wrap groove to meet the leathers thickness. Also once you have taken away this much material from the wrap groove, and sell the cue, the next guy cannot change the wrap because the wrap groove is too deep. The guys selling leather wrap blanks are actually sanding the back side of the leather to get them to desired thickness. Hope the clears up your question :)

Or, you can build the wrap seat back up with about 8 coats of UV acrylic, and recut the wrap seat on a taper bar -- for about $250. Ask me how I know :D
