Can anyone please tell me what is the difference between the original 1st Generation predator 314 shaft and the now new 314-2, Do they hit the same or are there big differences between the two, And if so are the 314-2 any good still compaired to the older original 314 shafts. Thanks

Actually, Doc's correct.
The only difference btwn a Gen1 partial and a Gen2 partial are the ferrule and DECAL.
Now go apologize.

All I ever see from you are useless imature comments, Do you ever have anything intelligent to say,

Apparently you haven't read the majority of my posts. :D I'll try to use smaller words and type slower to attract you to them. ;):D:wink:

I was merely trying to engage a little humor while also making a statement.

Why be mean?

.

-The ferrule length and material are different. Both lending to lighter front end mass.

-There is a phenolic insert about 2.5" into the joint side. Either the insert is fitted into it or the threads are cut directly into it. IIRC, it was done to stiffen the play of the shaft a little.

How about the hit

Maybe I worded it wrong, I know there is a difference with the decal and the ferrule, What I meant was about the hit and how they play, The reason I asked is because it seems like people want the older 1st Gen. When you see an older 1st Gen for sale they sell in two seconds and for a good price. I'm just wondering if there is a big difference between the 1st Gen and the 314-2. in how they play feel and hit or are they the same in that respect.

It's the same with all pool related equipment, no one wants change. Everyone feels older materials, equipment and building techniques are better. It seems that in the pool world progress and innovation is frowned on.

I absolutely think there is a difference. The wood selection for sure. Its hard for me to explain but it I showed then to you in person, it would be night and day.

To answer the other part of your question, the 2nd Generation are more accurate, according to Predator. Shorter, lighter ferrule... The front end bore is the same.

The originals were made with the "spine" of the wood for each pie piece. The new ones are not. I believe that made a massive and unexpected difference in the way the shaft plays. The new ones may be more accurate but the older one feel better, IMO.

Per my conversation with predator a month or so back, 314 where made in North America, 314^2 are made in china. Bigger difference than decals amd ferrule length if you ask me.
