4.5 pockets downtable, but 4.25 in the opposite corners, with the throat angle pointed inward
4.5 sides.
my guess is whoever fixed the table, thought of folks playing downtable games
like 1hole and 14.1- ?

Much more likely whoever worked on the table did not know what they were doing. I used to play league in a place with an 8 footer that had crooked side pockets, they did not line up to each other, one was a full ball off the opposite one.
