I've got at least 10 sets of digital calipers laying around different machinery in my shop. Most of these are of this lower priced models. They work about as well as My Mitutoyo's and in fact, I have two Mitutoyo's that I don't use as one doesn't go down to hundredths of a mil. but only tenths and the other doesn't use batteries but is light activated so when I first light up the shop it doesn't work until it's internal battery is charged. Actually, if there is a Harbor Freight anywhere near you, then that's not a great price as theirs are usually 14.95 for these same ones. They also have some with a larger screen for easier viewing for a couple of dollars more. With Digital calipers there is one warning and that is to use good fresh batteries. Cheap or old batteries lose their charge quickly and people think that it is the calipers fault using to much juice but usually it is the batteries not having enough.

I agree hf has some decent calipers I like my starett but have 5-6 cheap one I use as much as my starett
 
I agree with the HF, mine actually turns on automatically when I move the slide, and then turns off by itself after about 10-20 min. saves on batteries,
plus I bought them on sale for around $9

i bought a pair of Mitutoyos when i first started but i actullay like the plain $10 non digital ones better for some things.for some things it is easier to add and subtract using the non-digital ones,maybe just me though.
