Dirty Ferrules

I am using a white threaded material that seems to hold dirt all too well.
Of course the solution is to not let it get dirty. Any ideas if you let it get dirty. Also, in the future I'll be coating it with cyno or some sealer. Any other ideas other than not using these ferrules.
thanks in advance, Bill

Material

Do you know what material it is I was working with some stuff a while back that I was able to polish sand and that helped with the chalk somewhat .....Not all the way though .....Cyno sound like it may be the anser.....Hope this helps ......Ray Weeks

Hi Bill!

What cleaners have you tried? Usually a Magic Eraser wetted with denatured methyl alcohol gets most of them clean for me. Now, if the player has gouged them with the chalk cube, those of course are deeper and will require some sanding probably to get out.

But before you sand them, do you happen to have any of Chris Hightower's shaft cleaner? It does a good job, in conjunction with a Magic Eraser on ferrules as well.

And you're on the right track to keep them clean. You want to seal them with something. Cyano should work, I use my shaft sealer. YMMV

Hope this helps,

Gary

ferrule cleaner

There's a lot of stuff that will work. Sometime ago I purchased a product I ran across called FLASH Ferrule Cleaner. It's a small bottle, and kinda pricey for what it is, but works really good. Being a thick liquid it gets deep, even in gouges. Some people absolutely do not want there ferrules or shafts sanded at all, so this is what I use on theirs only, remember it being a small bottle..When it got about half empty I added Denatured Alcohol and it didn't change the cleaning abilities at all..A good Carnuba car wax has also been helpful to keep them clean..If they won't let you sand out the scratches and gouges, CA will onlly seal them in..Just my nickel':)

clean ferrules

Yes, thanks guys,
I am looking for a ferrule that is non porous too, but the hit is what i like about the ferrule. The cyno of course wouldn't be used on dirty ferrules.
Ill be glad to try the cleaners you suggested.
thanks for the help.
Bill
