Disassembly advise: 10-foot Madison

I'm acquiring a 10-foot six leg Madison convertible table. I have to make a road trip to get it and would like to get some advice re: disasssembly. It should be fairly easy to move it to my pickup based on correspondence with the owner.
Is it prudent to make this a do-it-yourself job?
If not, can someone from San Fran provide a referral to a mechanic in the area? It will be a Saturday morning job in 2-3 weeks. Of course I can provide some muscle.

Those old tables can have 2 inch thich slate and weight 600 pounds a peice! If. You have 1 and 1/2 inch each slate is 450 pounds. I got a six leg table and the weight requires help! Also, some minor tools
