I've been harassing a friend of mine to let me help him recover his pool tables so maybe I could start a little side business as a table mechanic.Well everything was going great until we went to stretch the last corner and I cut the cloth wrong. Now the pocket has a bubble inside the lip that my friend says will cut the cloth sooner or later.I have two questions 1 Is there anything I can do about that bubble and 2 Are there any good videos on table repair/recovery? Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

If you haven't put the rails back on yet, you should be able to stretch the bubble out. It's hard to tell when you say the bubble is "inside the lip" exactly where it's at but when stretching cloth, at times you have to make slits about 1" from the spot you're trying to stretch in order to stretch it out. One other thing about the bump. You didn't happen to drop your cell phone out of your pocket before you put the cloth down, did you? Just kidding. My brother in law dropped a pack of cigarettes on a floor that he was gluing carpet to once. Got a hammer and board and smashed the hell out of it. Smooth as silk now. Good luck. Also, if it's a bubble, I doubt that you will cut the cloth. Usually, cloth will cut of get discolored when a ball continually runs over a sharp spot - like the joints in three piece slate.

The keys here are how "wrong" you cut the cloth and they type it is. Most times you can loosen the cloth in that corner an some toward the other corner and side pocket and pull enough into you to correct this situation. The problem is that with certain cloths it would affect slow ball roll in that area. There are too many things I don't know to about the installation to get any more specific:D

If it's a small bubble (less than 1-inch), try this trick: Using distilled water, liberally wet the cloth at the bubble, and maybe 2-3 inches surrounding the bubble. Let that dry 24 hours, and often the whole thing is gone in the morning. Magic! :)

(A very, very slight discoloration may result, but usually not enough to notice after the cloth is used for a few racks.)

With reference to bigg7's question - Are there any good books and or videos that details all the steps to remove and recover a table?

Not yet, but they're in the process.
