Diveney Jump Break Review

Morning friends,
I recieved my Pat Diveney jump break cue yesterday and all I can say is WOW! I asked Pat to build the cue for me at a touch less than 18.5 oz and he absolutly nailed it. Pat uses a G-10 furrule/tip combo. IMHO it is leaps and bounds better than phenolic. Pat used radial pins in both sections of the cue therefore I can use the butt and forearm with the shaft. He also pre tapped the butt so I can add & remove weight when I so desire. I broke around 25 racks with it last night with not one miscue. The G-10 seems to hold chalk much better than any other non leather tip I have ever tried. I pocketed a ball or two consistantly and the spreads were very good every time. I noticed that when I didn't try to crush the rack my results were just as good. How does this thing jump? Like a Kangaroo on speed! The forearm material on the cue is a diffrent wood than the Butt. I am not sure of the forearm wood but it is noticably lighter than the butt material. The cue ball seems to spring off of the G-10. I had no problem jumping balls as close as 5 inches apart when the cue is seperated, and table legnth jumps have become effortless when the cue is full legnth. I also noticed that I had some cue ball control with the G-10 when jumping, and this is a great thing. I just wanted to share my findings with you all as you all have done for me on this great forum. This cue will become a priceless addition to improving my game.
Pat if you are out there, Thanks A Million!

Thanks

for the review. It is phenolic and also it is forearm, not forum. What is the G-10 tip made of?

Spelling is not my strong suit:D . G-10 is the same material Joe Gold, Pat and others are using for some of their joint pins. If I am correct it was developed by NASA. Pretty darn stout stuff. I dont have pics, and I wouldnt know how to post them if I did. Pat sells his J/B cues for $275.00, and it was the best money I have spent tward my game in a long while.

G-10 is a glass (woven fibers) reinforced epoxy. Used in various industry, it's a thermoset plastic, it's heat resistant, non-conductive (insulator). Very high strength properties. Chemical resistant and moisture resistant, too.

I have one of Pat's J/B also and I like it much better than the phenolic tip ferrule combo. It has a very destinctive sound to it, peolpe turn around and look, when you break real hard. Pat makes a hell of a cue also. I don't think it's a type of plastic though as someboby stated, it's a Glass Epoxy, with a vertical strenghth higher than steel, I could be wrong though, but I don't think so.

Quite correct. It's also in about 99% of the circuit boards built today. Anything in your house that has a PCB in it more than likely has G-10 Fr4 in it. Pretty good stuff to work with.
