Part 2

One of the score keepers was missing and the other was junk so I removed it and fiberglassed/filled the holes. Then sanded prior to paint and got it primed.

Part 5

Now I'm just waiting for my table mechanic to finish replacing the cushions and getting the Simonis 860 on the rails and we'll be ready to put it all back together. Also built the light.

Table

Odd T-rail table.. those rails can be tricky. Before k55 or k66.

Time to do some fiberglass work and build a matching apron/skirt for the light'

Blatt has made a lot of tables.. give them a call.

Not odd, just old.

The rails bolt from the side into the frame. I hadn't seen one like this before either but the table is very well built and solid. Also has the tube type return that runs to the center of the table because there's no room under the rails for the wire returns.

Don't stop now, you've got me all excited!
I'd like to see it put together and with you and your buddies enjoying it.
Lots of work that few but you will appreciate.
Dave

I'll put up completed pictures

Just waiting on my guy to get the new cushions done and the cloth on the rails. I'm ready to hit some balls too.

AWESOME BROTHER ! Love it. That red and white are gonna be HOTTTTT! I agree with Black Ball, first thing I thought of too☺

That table is going to be AMAZING! Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see the thing back together looking like a 50's roadster!

Tell about and show us some photos before and after of the rails, the faux wood etc. They did not look bad in the first photo.
The red reminds me of a Woolworth soda fountain ca. 1950s

The photo in the link doesn't do the soda fountain colors justice; there was more "pop" in real life.

Keeping faux wood for now

Unfortunately, my ambition and desire to have the table to play on means I'm not replacing the formica "wood" on top of the rails at this point. I've done the work to remove it before on another table for somebody else, and it's not fun. Then there's getting veneer put on nicely and finished, and probably my biggest obstacle, getting sights inlaid. I don't plan on being in the place I'm in for too many more years, so maybe when I break it down to move it next time I'll have more ambition.

Rails

Just waiting on my guy to get the new cushions done and the cloth on the rails. I'm ready to hit some balls too.

Which cushions profile is going to be installed? I believe this table predates the k55 or k66 profile cushions that are available today..

In the first photo, the one at the top of your first page, the formica does not look bad. And it will play the same, original formica, new formica, new wood or anything else.
Get that thing in playing condition and you can always address the formica later.

Just a question on the Formica® or formica. Were the original Brunswick Gold Crowns built with the proprietary Formica® or was the plastic a knock-off of Formica®'s formula?

And the Blatt rails looks like the GCs.

Cushions

Putting on Artemis k55's. they match what was on there which were marked with the Blatt logo so they were likely original.

Collecting parts

Got in my new pockets today. Brown leather drop pockets from Hood Leather Products. Very happy with how they look now and think they'll look even better installed. Also picked up a cherry stained Diamond rack. The wait is excruciating.

I am enjoying your restoration. I have been looking forward to when you first take a cut to the cue ball. The pockets look super. :D

Keep posting the photos, they help keep my vicarious juices in motion.
